The salesman was overselling a couch to me and claimed that the couch could accommodate five people without any problems.

^^ You need a Queen and a drone for an ant nest to survive but more importantly you also need lots of workers who forage for food and tend the laid eggs and in general look after the nest colony of that particular ant queen.
It should be remembered that many ant colonies have their own "gardens" of fungi and only forage for plant material for their fungi gardens off of which the ant colony feeds.
Theologically I cannot understand how the termites were saved during the flood. as just two termites, just by themselves, cannot survive, but a community of many termites, each with their particular function within the colony will survive the extremes in which they live.
