Antichrist, properly translated is....instead of Christ for although he/they/it are anti, or against Christ...antichrist is in the place of Christ or...instead of Christ. Who is this person/entity? What does Scripture tell us about him/it/them?
There are types, examples, shadows of antichrist but the actual title is used only in the epistles of John.....
Pilate asked…what is truth [John 18:38]. Above, where it is written that we are to know all things and all truth does that mean we are given to know all things in this world and have no doubts as to what others say as being truthful…or not? No, I think not. Rather we are told what the “truth” is that we are to know……
We are given to know truth, know Jesus, when He dwells IN US. He does not dwell in antichrists for instead of Christ being in them is another. And the other is there instead of Christ. What or who is the other in them/us? Who is in them/us instead of Christ?
John is teaching of two different types in the above...a liar and also an antichrist. The liars are those that deny to themselves and others that Jesus is the Christ (atheists) and He tells us "all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death". [Revelation 21:8] But the definition of the antichrist is he that..."denieth the Father and the Son." How is He denied?
There is part of the answer. An antichrist, and there are many, is someone that "confesseth not that Jesus Christ is cometh in the flesh." Does that mean they deny He came as a man, in a flesh body? No, for that wouldn't deceive a believer and they are deceivers. That begs the question...what flesh is being spoken of? That too is answered by "greater is He that is in you." It speaks of our flesh...He comes in our flesh and that is the denial of antichrists. Again…how?
Those without Christ, yet believe they have Christ, deny, or don’t allow Him to be in them as they haven’t yet crucified their “old man.”
In other words, is our own old man the antichrist! Are we the abomination in our selves, in the temple, in His holy place…..
When we see, when we understand, who the abomination of desolation is and understand who is standing in the holy place, we have reached an important stage in our walk.
A “falling away,” or an apostasy must take place first…before we are gathered unto Him. That day will NOT happen until this is accomplished (and souls are gathered daily, long before the end of this age begins and before our physical deaths for…it is a spiritual gathering). I always saw the apostasy as falling away from truth but now understand it to be falling away from our man of sin…revealing him to ourselves as a hypocrite, as a “son of perdition” for we are either children of Light or children of darkness. Sons of God or sons of perdition.
We must fall away from the self-deception of believing we are followers of Christ, if our old man still lives. If our old man sits in God’s temple and we are the temple of God, shewing the world what good and wonderful Christians we are while simply “playing church,” then we are sons of perdition! We are abominations sitting in His temple for we denieth Him in the flesh, in our flesh.
He can’t “dwelleth” there until our old man has been crucified! We are denying Him until then and consequently we cannot be gathered unto Him. Salt water and fresh cannot inhabit one body, one temple.

1 John 2:18-23 Little children, it is the last [time] hour: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last [time] hour. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth. Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

Ephesians 4:21 If so be that ye have heard Him, and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus:
1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

1 John 4:2-3 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.
2 John 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

11 Corinthians 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

Romans 6:6-7 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.
Colossians 3:8-10 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of Him that created him:

Matthew 24:14-16 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand). Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

2 Thessalonians 2:1-4 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto Him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
