John 14:2-4 In My Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto Myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

The "Father's house" is His Temple and His temple is...

1 Corinthians 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

We are the "many mansions" He dwelleth in! :D

You have left no room for argument whirlwind. The ones who are looking forward to a house made of chocolate, and place of delight in the sky, have missed the point that you presented here, and believe in tales and stories. There will be no heavenly "mansions" for anyone.

In the period of His return and reign His Father's house, the temple, will be a reality once more, and His disciple will find their places within it as appointed of God. They will perform divine service there as priests of the Most High God.

We are moved beyond that portion as members of Christ's body, to the new humanity, wherein God dwells in His people.

1C 15:28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

For His disciples, their abodes (mansions,KJV) will be in the temple in the new Jerusalem, with God dwelling among them. We already are the temple of the Holy Spirit, and God already dwells in us. The situation for us far surpasses that which was promised to His disciples in John 14:2-4.

2C 6:16 ... for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in [them]; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Our blessings are in the celestial realm, and the blessings on earth will be enjoyed by the elect of Israel. There is a glory terrestrial and a glory celestial, and by mercy, grace and faith, we have obtained the latter.

Very good, whirlwind, and consider this:

Joh 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: (G3438): if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

Joh 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. abode (G3438)

G3438
μονή
monē
mon-ay'
From G3306; a staying, that is, residence (the act or the place): - abode, mansion.

the word occures only here and in vs. 23 where it is translated "abode."

G3306
μένω
menō
men'-o
A primary verb; to stay (in a given place, state, relation or expectancy): - abide, continue, dwell, endure, be present, remain, stand, tarry (for), X thine own.

occurs 41 times in John. means "abide."

Joh 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth (G3306) in me, he doeth the works.

Hopefully, we "abide" on "mansion" with Him everyday. We can have out "mansion" right here and now.

Whirlwind

Theological shortcuts do not stand up to scrutiny.

A person can lose credibility doing so.

What theological shortcuts are you talking about, Martin?

To equate what Jesus said to his 12 disciples in John 14:2-4 to a verse in 1 Corinthians 3:16 does not stand up to scrutiny.

This is so far out of context I am surprised anyone would even try to make such a connection.

Hope that clarifies my comment.

Thanks.
Martin.

I'm surprised you don't see the connection. Please look again....

Pegg, it's all good, making the connections with God's will for mankind and His plan to become All in all.

1C 15:28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

When the Lord returns to judge the nations and apostate Israel, His Father's temple will be presided over by Him as the Son of David on His governmental throne, after the order of Melchizidek. The abodes (mansions,KJV) in that temple were promised to the twelve, not us. They will minister in that temple alongside the Christ. It will last for the millennium and not beyond. We are the temple, not made with hands, and are new creations being formed for that latter time beyond the earthly rule of Israel and the Lord. The abodes are present within the temple made with hands during the Millennium and do not comprise God' desired dwelling place within. In this sense, there is no connection between the two passages, and yet the two are descriptive of God's plan for humanity.
