I've seen that saying quite a bit around the forum and then I was reading something today in the Bible about people marking their foreheads but I don't really get it. Can somebody please explain it to me?

The mark of the beast is the number of a man. 666. God is 7, man is 6. The best that man can ever do on his own is 6. No matter how many times we try, we will never reach heaven, perfection, goodness, etc...on our own. We just keep banging our heads against a ceiling made of iron: 666...Jesus came to take us to heaven by grace, not by works.

An antichrist, or persuasive beast therefore is anyone that demands loyalty to himself, rather than faith in God, and so we must have his number branded on our forehead or our hand to show we agree more with him in conscience and in deed rather than with God. The mark is necessary to 'buy and sell'. An example of such is being forced to bake a cake for a gay wedding, or else be prosecuted and put out of business for choosing conscience over compliance. (Also note that the 'offended' gay couple are purposely seeking out those who deny their business in order to bring a law suit against them. It's not about 'acceptance' but about activism. Forced compliance. There is nothing 'live and let live' about activism)

I thought that that 666 thing was just superstition though. :/

Nothing written specifically in the Bible is just superstition. Not if you believe the Bible is God's spoken Word written down on paper. However, the tendency is to get caught up in the details, while missing the point. Whether a beastly ruler in the world (of which there have been and still are many) requires people in his realm to get a mark in their forehead or their hand is less important than the warning of God to not allow your conscience, nor your deeds, to be dictated by men OVER the written will of God.

We should believe and obey God for our own good, rather than believe, obey, and trust people who most likely have a hidden or openly corrupt agenda. I.e. we will stand before God to be judged on our own, and the old saw of obeying the powers that be, wont apply. In the end, we will answer to God, not to men, so obey God, rather then men, when those men or women demand something from you that is plainly contrary to your conscience from God. (Acts 5:29)

No, it would be real. Not that the mark will be 666, but something that shows allegiance to this world leader. Seeing as he will be of the devil, that is why 666 is associated with Satan.

No, it would be real. Not that the mark will be 666...

A good rule is not to rule something out that is specifically written in Scripture, unless of course Scripture itself informs us that something written is not to be taken literally, which occurs many times. Otherwise, we start making the flood an allegory, and the crossing of the Red Sea on dry ground a metaphor...

Now, if you're wondering how someone could be so stupid as to actually allow themselves to be marked with an actual 666 on their forehead, or right hand, when even the world is familiar with it's meaning. Then you just have to consider what reprobation is. It is an absolute loss of reality and truth and any sense of intelligence whatsoever. I mean, a whole world of people will actually be gathering to fight with the Lord Himself at Armageddon, which is AFTER seeing the 2 dead witnesses resurrected onto their feet, and then ascend before their eyes to heaven. Which of course also is AFTER hearing a voice from heaven say "Come up here".

Go figure, huh?
