[Jesus instructs us in how to keep the “New Testament Passover.”Jesus did not do away with the Passover; He only changed the symbols used in how to keep it.1. The bread. 2. The wine. 3. The foot washing. 4. The singing of a hymn. Below are the instructions for keeping the New Testament Passover. The Passover has always been kept according to these teachings by Jesus’ disciples and His Church will still be keeping Passover when Christ returns.]Lk. 22: 7 Then came the Day of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover must be killed. 8 And He sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat.”--- (Note: Jesus told them to prepare the Passover)14 When the hour had come, He sat down, and the twelve apostles with Him. 15 Then He said to them, “With fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; 16 for I say to you, I will no longer eat of it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” (Note: Jesus had a great desire to eat this Passover)17 Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves; (That’s a command not a suggestion) 18 for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” 19 And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” (Jesus commands us to do the same.) 20 Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you. (This began the New Testament or New Covenant era.) Mat. 26: 17 Now on the first day of the Feast of the Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying to Him, “Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?” 18 And He said, “Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, “My time is at hand; I will keep the Passover at your house with My disciples.”19 So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them; and they prepared the Passover.---26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” (Don’t ignore this command)27 Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. (Notice this is not a request) 28 For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. 29 But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.” 30 And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.Mk. 14: 17 In the evening He came with the twelve. 18 Now as they sat and ate, Jesus said, “Assuredly, I say to you, one of you who eats with Me will betray Me.” 19 And they began to be sorrowful, and to say to Him one by one, “Is it I?” And another said, “Is it I?”20 He answered and said to them, “It is one of the twelve, who dips with Me in the dish. 21 The Son of Man indeed goes just as it is written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had never been born.” (Here Jesus eats the “Old Testament Passover” with His disciples before He institutes the “New Testament Passover,” on the same night.)22 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” (This is not a suggestion) 23 Then He took the cup, and when He had given thanks He gave it to them, and they all drank from it. 24 And He said to them, “This is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many. 25 Assuredly, I say to you, I will no longer drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.” 26 And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.Jo. 13: 2 And supper being ended, the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray Him, 3 Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God, 4 (Jesus) rose from supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded Himself. 5 After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded. ---12 So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you? 13 You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. 14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. (This foot washing additude is the additude a Christian must have)15 For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. (Remember we are commanded to follow in Jesus’ foot steps) 16 Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. 17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them. (Again, these are not suggestions)Do with this info what you will, but for your sake I hope you don’t ignore it.
