I have read over some of this post not all. I would like to add my understanding of the 10 commandments in relationship to the Book of the Law.
Things we can agree on are, Moses instructed the layout of the Tabernacle.
Moses received the 10 Commandments from God "written by God"
He instructed the building of the Ark of the Convent..
The entire mobil Temple was carefully built following Gods instruction in every detail.

My point is where did Moses instruct the Book of the Law to be placed?

Deuteronomy 31
[sup]24[/sup]And it came to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book, until they were finished, [sup]25[/sup]That Moses commanded the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, saying,

[sup]26[/sup]Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.

The Law was not placed with the 10 commandment "inside the ark" but placed next to the ark.

To me this indicates a distinct difference. God made a covenant with the nation He had called from Abraham Isaac and Jacob. I believe this was the equivalent of the Constitution of the US. The law governing the people, distinct and different from the law of God. Moses goes on to prophesy about the Book of the Law.

[sup]27[/sup]For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against the LORD; and how much more after my death?

[sup]28[/sup]Gather unto me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and call heaven and earth to record against them.

[sup]29[/sup]For I know that after my death ye will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will befall you in the latter days; because ye will do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands.

[sup]30[/sup]And Moses spake in the ears of all the congregation of Israel the words of this song, until they were ended.

The underlined and highlighted above is why Israel called it the law of Moses.

[sup]26[/sup]Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.

In Mark we see one example of what Jesus thought about the law that was placed beside the ark. "that it may be there for a witness against thee".

Mark 7
[sup]1[/sup]Then came together unto him the Pharisees, and certain of the scribes, which came from Jerusalem.

[sup]2[/sup]And when they saw some of his disciples eat bread with defiled, that is to say, with unwashen, hands, they found fault.

[sup]3[/sup]For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, except they wash their hands oft, eat not, holding the tradition of the elders.

[sup]4[/sup]And when they come from the market, except they wash, they eat not. And many other things there be, which they have received to hold, as the washing of cups, and pots, brasen vessels, and of tables.

[sup]5[/sup]Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands?

[sup]6[/sup]He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.

[sup]7[/sup]Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

[sup]8[/sup]For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.

[sup]9[/sup]And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

[sup]10[/sup]For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death: <<<<<<<<<<<<<Jesus Quoting the 10 commandments

[sup]11[/sup]But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free.

[sup]12[/sup]And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother;

[sup]13[/sup]Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.

Did Jesus order the stoning of woman guilty of adultery, according to the law that was placed outside the ark?

Jesus said He came to fulfill the law, but yet we see all threw the gospels that the law that He was speaking of was the 10 commandments. He did not up hold the law of Moses.

A clue may be found in His summery of the law. [sup]30[/sup]And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

[sup]31[/sup]And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

I see the same scenario played out in the "religious body" of the RCC, the traditions of men, adding one thing upon another to the point of being ridiculous.
The same can be said for the "governing body" of the US constitution. Just take a peek inside the library of congress, look at the books of law that have come from a document you could hold in one hand.
