[Matthew 6:9-13 KJV] 9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as [it is] in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

This prayer actually was given to his disciples and Israel to pray.

Upon examination it is evident it is not for us to pray.

Thy kingdom come is praying for the Davidic earthly kingdom promised, not to us, but promised Israel (Matthew 3:2).

Thy will be done is doing the Father' will to enter the kingdom on earth (Matthew 7:21).

Daily bread will be needed for Israel in the tribulation. They will not be able to buy food by not taking the mark (Revelation 13:17).

In regard to forgive us our debts, look at the following verses.

[Matthew 6:14-15 KJV] 14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: 15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

For Israel forgiveness was conditional on them forgiving. This is not the case for us in the body of Christ; we have now forgiveness for all our sin(Colossians 2:13).

[Mat 6:31-33 KJV] 31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Israel was to seek the Davidic kingdom promised them and if they did, they would have provision from God.

It's great the we are able to pray for people, pray for help in our time of need, pray for all the presidents.

I love how Paul wrote to timothy concerning prayer as well.

1 Timothy 2:1-7

English Standard Version

Pray for All People

2 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man[a] Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time. 7 For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

I love how it doesn't say - Don't pray for you friend who may be of a different mindset as you, or don't pray for the person that may be in a terrible way, or don't pray for the presidents, don't pray for the law enforcers, etc... Exclude praying for all people in general.

That is awesome.

But this much stands true, there are some things you can't pray for.

James wrote to his audience saying;

James 4

New King James Version

Pride Promotes Strife

4 Where do [a]wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? 2 You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and [b]war. [c]Yet you do not have because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. 4 [d]Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 5 Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”?
6 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says:
“God resists the proud,
But gives grace to the humble.”

That would make a lot of sense considering the dating of the times, Doug. But is there nothing spiritual we can gain off of it at all?

Good point
[2Ti 3:16 KJV] 16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
I would say we should forgive because we are forgiven in Christ
Also Israel today can have this forgiveness as well by believing Paul's gospel
