Did you read the words, "in the 4th commandment section"? I can see you are not reading my responses carefully.
If you mean this...........................
  • [04.] [Exo. 20:8-11] Act. 13:14-16,42,44, 14:15-16, 15:21 (see Isa. 56:6), 16:13, 17:2 (3 consecutive sabbaths; also compare Luk. 4:16), 18:4,7 (“every sabbath”; also see Jhn. 16:2),11 (“year and six months”; over 78 sabbaths kept consecutively, with Jews, Gentiles and whole city at least once); in Act. 18:23, “he had spent some time there” (several sabbaths); in Act. 19:8, “for the space of three months” (est. 12 sabbaths); in Act. 19:10, “continued by the space of two years” (est. 104 sabbaths), in Act. 19:22, “for a season” (several sabbaths), in Act. 20:3, “three months” (est. 12 sabbaths), and in Act. 20:18,31, “all seasons, “a space of three years” (est. 156 sabbaths); Heb. 4:1-12 (especially vs. 9; “rest” = koine Greek “σαββατισμός”, “sabbatismos”), 10:25 (the Lord’s day, the 7th day in weekly cycle and also the greater ‘Day of the LORD’, the 1000 years)................sorry but it made no sense

Do you think the 7th day the Sabbath is / was only for Jews? What scripture would you produce for that if you did?
The sabbath was the word of the covenant.
The covenants only were made with Israel..............[Romans 9:4 KJV] "Who are Israelites; to whom [pertaineth] the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service [of God], and the promises;"
The sabbath was covenant for Israel.......................[Exodus 31:16 KJV] "Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, [for] a perpetual covenant."

Each of those textual references for the 4th commandment (or any of them) are clearly cited, even in order of their books.

If those things "made no sense", simply go read those references, as each shows that the NT Christains were keeping sabbath, both Jews and Gentiles. All were 'repenting' unto God to come into obedience to God's law as foretold by OT prophecy; Isa. 56:1,8; Jhn. 10:16; Isa. 56:2-7, as seen fulfilled in those NT texts cited above. Acts 15 itself shows this, by Peter, Paul and James, in both actions and citations from the prophets in the OT.

Romans 7:14. "the law is spiritual", and can only be kept in the Spirit, and in so doing, the entire letter will be fulfilled to the letter. Thus a life without sinning in that capacity. A person cannot keep the the law by the Spirit and violate the letter. The Spirit is what brings forth the letter (spoken word, for out of the abundance of the heart of God, His mouth spoke).

Ask yourself, how can you keep the commandment of "Thou shalt not kill / murder" without keeping it to the letter by the Spirit?
Israel only had the letter of the law. They didnt have the Spirit. They would in the new covenant................
[Jeremiah 31:31 KJV] "Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:"
[Jeremiah 31:33 KJV] "But this [shall be] the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people."
[Ezekiel 36:26 KJV] "A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh."
[Ezekiel 36:27 KJV] "And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do [them]."

Did you notice the word "covenants" (plural)? I address those in the book. There was a covenant which existed before the peoples 'Israel' existed, and the sabbath is a part of it.

Also, there is natural 'Israel' (the peoples who came from the lineage of Jacob), and the real spiritual 'Israel' (Jesus Christ), who existed before them all.

Jesus is the Real & True & Spiritual Israel

In the New Testament, the gospel writer Matthew, under inspiration of the Holy Spirit (2 Tim. 3:16-17 KJB), retells the history of the early days of the child Jesus, and His having to flee into the country of Egypt, because of the evil intentions of Herod (Mat. 2:1-12; Rev. 12:4 KJB), and states that Jesus is the true fulfillment of the prophecy of Hosea, and is the “son” of God called “Israel”:

- Matthew 2:13 KJB - And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.
- Matthew 2:14 KJB - When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:
- Matthew 2:15 KJB - And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.
- Matthew 2:19 KJB - But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,
- Matthew 2:20 KJB - Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child’s life.
- Matthew 2:21 KJB - And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel.
- Hosea 11:1 KJB - When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.

Jesus is the Real, Original, Eternal and True Son of God the Father; the real “Israel” (Rom. 9:6-8 KJB), the “Israel of God” (Gal. 6:16 KJB). In Mat. 2:13-15,19-21; Hos. 11:1 KJB Jesus is identified by the Father, through the Holy Spirit who inspired Matthew to cite Hos. 11:1 KJB as being truly fulfilled by Jesus, who is named “Israel”

- (and no marvel for Jesus is also named, “Adam” (1 Cor. 15:45-47 KJB), “David” (Jer. 30:9; Eze. 34:23-24, 37:24-25; Hos. 3:5 KJB), ‘Solomon’ (“Prince of Peace” (Isa. 9:6 KJB), “son of David” (Mat. 1:1; Luk. 3:31 KJB, &c.), “Levi” (Mal. 2:4-7 KJB), and many others, for all the scriptures testify of Jesus (Jhn. 5:39; Luk. 24:27; Psa. 40:7; Heb. 10:7; Act. 3:18 KJB)).

Jesus is the Real and True “overcomer” (Jhn. 16:33; Rev. 3:21 KJB) and “Prince” (Isa. 9:6; Dan. 8:11,25, 9:25, 10:13,21, 11:22, 12:1; Act. 3:15, 5:31; Rev. 1:5 KJB) with God His Father, which is what the name “Israel” means (Gen. 32:28, 35:10 KJB).

Jesus is the very “elect” (Isa. 42:1; Mat. 12:18; 1 Pet. 2:6 KJB) of the Father, in whom all the promises of God the Father find their realization and true fulfillment (2 Cor. 1:20; Psa. 2:8, 116:14,18 KJB). Jesus is the “Lord” over His own house, whose house are Christians / Disciples (Psa. 98:3; Heb. 3:6; Jer. 31:33 KJB).

Since Jesus is the Real and True Israel, who then are His children?

The disciples of Jesus are His Real and True children, given Him by the Father (Jhn. 13:33; Heb. 2:13 KJB, citing Isa. 8:16,18 KJB in context of Isa. 8:8-20 KJB, “Immanuel”, “God with us”, “sanctuary”, “stone”, “rock”, “LORD of Hosts”).

Just as the Jacob / Israel after the flesh had the 12 patriarchs (Gen. 35:22 KJB), so too Jesus has the 12 Apostles (Mat. 10:2; Luk. 6:13, 22:14; Rev. 21:14 KJB); and all whom they taught, the number of whom is as the “sand of the sea” (Isa. 10:22 KJB).

Though there was a “natural” “Israel”, “after the flesh”, Jesus is the Real and True “spiritual” (1 Cor. 15:45-47 KJB) “Israel”, “of God”, “after the Spirit” (Rom. 8:4 KJB).

For the Law of God (Ten Commandments, including the Sabbath of the LORD, Exo. 20:1-17 KJB) is “spiritual” (Rom. 7:14 KJB), and can only be kept by the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit (Jer. 31:31-34; Heb. 8:8-13, 10:16; Eze. 11:19-20, 36:22-38, 37:26-28; 2 Cor. 3:3,6 KJB).

There, “remaineth therefore a rest (sabbatismos, Sabbath keeping in spirit and in truth; Jhn. 4:23-24; Isa. 66:22-23; Rev. 14:6-12 KJB) to the people of God” (Heb. 4:9; Heb. 4:1-12; Mat. 11:28; Exo. 33:14 KJB), and because they love Him who first loved them, they keep His commandments (Jhn. 14:15; Exo. 20:6; Rev. 12:17, 14:7,12; Exo. 20:11 KJB), which are not grievous (1 Jhn. 5:3 KJB), especially the Sabbath which was “made for” (Mar. 2:27 KJB) Him / them (Col. 1:16; 1 Tim. 2:5; 1 Cor. 15:45-47 KJB), never being ‘against’ Him / them; being “light” (Pro. 6:23; Isa. 8:20, 51:4 KJB), never a shadow; fulfilled in grace / mercy (Exo. 20:2,6 KJB), thus to be kept holy by all in Christ Jesus in the everlasting covenant (Isa. 56:1,8; Jhn. 10:16; Isa. 56:2-7 KJB).

“Israel”, merely “after the flesh” (1 Cor. 10:18 KJB), outside of Christ Jesus, as a ‘nation’ (individuals can still be saved if they call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ), is left “desolate” (Mat. 23:38; Luk. 13:35 KJB), because they failed to keep the sabbath of the LORD (Exo. 16:28, 20:12-13, 20-24; Num. 15:32-41; Psa. 95:11; Heb. 3:11, 4:3,5 KJB), being not mixed with faith (Heb. 4:2; Rom. 14:23 KJB), and are to bear no more “fruit” ever again (Mat. 21:19 KJB), being cursed, and withered away (Mar. 11:21 KJB), dried up from the root (Mar. 11:20 KJB), being “twice dead” (Jud. 1:12 KJB), for the axe was already laid at their root (Mat. 3:10; Luk. 3:9 KJB), and so was cut down, and thrown into the fire (Isa. 9:14; Jhn. 15:6; Mat. 22:7; Luk. 21:20 KJB), and will be so again in the lake of fire to come (Rev. 20:15, 21:8; 1 Jhn. 2:4 KJB).

Ask yourself, how can you keep the 7th day Sabbath except by the letter?

The Ten Commandment IS the Old Covenant, Ex. 34:28 So he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments. It is called the ministry of death.

2 Corinthians 3:4 And we have such trust through Christ toward God. 5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, 6 who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 7 But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away, 8 how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious? 9 For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory. 10 For even what was made glorious had no glory in this respect, because of the glory that excels. 11 For if what is passing away was glorious, what remains is much more glorious.

Do you know what it is about the New Covenant's Spirit that beats the Old Covenant's laws? What did Jesus do that makes the Ten Commandments obsolete to the born again Christian? The unsaved are still under the Old Covenant Ten Commandments.
I replied this to advantageous

Read it. "I will put my law in their inward parts"

What "my law" do you think God was talking about? Do a word study on "my law/s" and it leads right back to the Ten Commandments.

No, some of them rejected the Spirit (King Saul), and some rejected faith. Not all did.

Rom_9:32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;
Heb 4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
Heb 4:2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
Heb 4:3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
Yes, they had the Spirit. Who do you think was inspiring Moses, David, etc? Joshua and Caleb entered in by faith.

No, Paul did not leave the 4th commandment to the individual. That would be self-righteousness, an individual law, in opposition to God's law. Please re-read Romans 14 carefully - The 7th Day The Sabbath - The Rest Of His Eternal Story (by Aaron Earnest) : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive
[Colossians 2:16 KJV] "Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath [days]:"
[Colossians 2:17 KJV] "Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body [is] of Christ."
[Romans 14:5 KJV] "One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day [alike]. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind."................a saved Jew in the body of Christ could keep the sabbath or not

The whole mosaic law will be kept in the new covenant

[Ezekiel 36:27 KJV] "And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do [them]."...........this is also the new covenant and says statutes and judgments

Israel could be filled by the Spirit................[Exodus 35:31 KJV] "And he hath filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship;"
[Judges 13:24 KJV] "And the woman bare a son, and called his name Samson: and the child grew, and the LORD blessed him."

The Holy Spirit wasnt given til Christ was glorified after his resurrection...............[John 7:39 KJV] "(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet [given]; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)"

By loving and not hating. You won't murder someone you love.

What Bible are you quoting anyway. The Word of God does not say what you quoted. That twisting of the Word of God sounds cultish.

Romans 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin. 15 For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do. 16 If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good. 17 But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.

Romans 7:14-25 is what it was like for the Old Testament Jews living under the law. It is before becoming born again of the Spirit. They used to have to keep the law with a sin nature in opposition to their mind's knowledge of the Law. We don't have to stuggle if born again. Many Christians aren't born again and have a new nature and believe heresies.

About the O.P., the argument says the Ten Commandments are only a summary because the same ideas appear later in the Law of Moses. But that actually shows the opposite. It shows that the rest of the Law flows out from the Ten.

Look at the order God gave them.

In Book of Exodus 20, God Himself spoke the Ten Commandments directly to all the people. The whole nation heard His voice. Then in Exodus 24:12, God said He would give Moses “tables of stone, and the law and the commandment, which I have written.” The Ten were written by God’s own finger on stone Exodus 31:18.

After that, in Exodus 21 to 23, many detailed laws are given. These are not new moral foundations. They are applications of what was already spoken in chapter 20.

For example:

“Thou shalt not kill” Exodus 20:13. Then in Exodus 21, God explains cases of murder, injury, and punishment. The case laws flow from the command. They explain how to judge it.

“Thou shalt not commit adultery” Exodus 20:14. Then in Book of Leviticus 18, God explains in detail what sexual sins are forbidden. The detailed rules grow out of the commandment.

“Thou shalt not steal” Exodus 20:15. Then in Exodus 22, God explains restitution when someone steals. Again, the command comes first. The applications come after.

The pattern is clear. The Ten Commandments are given first as the foundation. The rest of the Mosaic laws expand, guard, and apply them in daily life.

Also notice something very important. The Ten Commandments were placed inside the ark of the covenant Deuteronomy 10:1–5. The other laws were written in a book and placed beside the ark Deuteronomy 31:24–26. That shows a difference in position and role. The Ten are central. The others surround and support them.

Even Jesus shows this structure. In Gospel of Matthew 19:17–19 ASV, when asked about eternal life, He quotes from the commandments: do not kill, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not bear false witness, honor father and mother. He goes to the foundation.

Then in Matthew 5, He does not replace the commandments. He deepens them. “Ye have heard… Thou shalt not kill” but He explains anger. “Thou shalt not commit adultery” but He explains lust. He shows that the command is the root, and the life application grows from it.

So when someone shows that the commandments appear again in Deuteronomy or Leviticus, that does not prove the Ten are only a summary taken from the larger law. It proves the larger law repeats and applies the Ten in different settings.

It is like a tree. The Ten Commandments are the trunk. The civil, judicial, and ceremonial instructions are branches. Branches grow from the trunk. The trunk does not grow from the branches.

The order of revelation, the way they were written, where they were placed, and how they are used later in Scripture all show the same thing. The Law of Moses flows out from the Ten Commandments, not the other way around.
