A simple analysis from Dan. 12:1 reveals that God's true "Israel" in our times is neither secular Israel nor modern Judaism. Notice what that text says about the time of the end and how the book of Revelation clarifies who the angel speaking to Daniel is referring to:
Dan. 12:1 "During that time Michael will stand up, the great prince who is standing on behalf of your people. And there will occur a time of distress such as has not occurred since there came to be a nation until that time. And during that time your people will escape, everyone who is found written down in the book.
Rev. 7:9 After this I saw, and looked! a great crowd, which no man was able to number, out of all nations and tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, dressed in white robes; and there were palm branches in their hands. 10 And they kept shouting with a loud voice, saying: “Salvation we owe to our God, who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb.” 11 All the angels were standing around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell facedown before the throne and worshiped God, 12 saying: "Amen! Let the praise and the glory and the wisdom and the thanksgiving and the honor and the power and the strength be to our God forever and ever. Amen." 13 In response one of the elders said to me: “These who are dressed in white robes, who are they and where did they come from?” 14 So right away I said to him: “My lord, you are the one who knows.” And he said to me: "These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15 That is why they are before the throne of God, and they are rendering him sacred service day and night in his temple; and the One seated on the throne will spread his tent over them. 16 They will hunger no more nor thirst anymore, neither will the sun beat down on them nor any scorching heat, 17 because the Lamb, who is in the midst of the throne, will shepherd them and will guide them to the springs of waters of life. And God will wipe out every tear from their eyes.”
Note that in Daniel 12:1, the angel tells Daniel that "his" people would escape the Great Tribulation at the end of time. Any Christian knows that the Great Tribulation the angel speaks of is the same one Jesus mentions in Matthew 24:21—an event that would occur, just as the angel told Daniel, during the time of the end.
It is evident that there are survivors of the Great Tribulation, and those survivors are Christians, because Jesus is speaking only to Christians. Now, note what the passage from Revelation 7 cited above says: it states that the survivors of the Great Tribulation praise God and the Lamb (Jesus) and attribute their salvation to them. The same passage says that the survivors are ".out of all nations and tribes and peoples and tongues".
It is evident that when the angel tells Daniel "your people shall escape," he is not referring to fleshly Israel, but to Christians from many nations who—wherever they may be—serve the same God as Daniel and are followers of Jesus, placing their faith in Him for their own salvation.
