“Those who say that Christ is reigning as King in His kingdom are unintentionally insulting Him considering the state of the world. When He reigns, peace, glory and righteousness will cover the earth. There will be no questions like: ‘Is He presently reigning?’ It will be manifest”

(Brian Reynolds)

And the saints will be reigning with him when he does. It is their kingdom.

From my X / Twitter “For you” feed this morning -

“I hate to break it to a lot of folks who quote Jesus saying, ‘My kingdom is not of this world,’ as if that means His Kingdom is only spiritual, immaterial, and somewhere ‘up in the sky.’

In the Bible, ‘world’ refers to the corrupt, sinful systems presently running the planet - not the physical realm or the planet itself. Jesus was not rejecting the earth or the physical universe … He was rejecting the wicked world systems and all their evil ways.

When Jesus returns, those world systems will be crushed, He will ‘restore all things,’ take His seat on Mount Zion, and His rule will extend ‘to the ends of the earth.’”

(Joel Richardson)

The saints will be ruling with him.

The restoration of the kingdom to Israel (Acts 1:6) = the times of the restoration of all that was promised by God through the mouth of the prophets (Acts 3:21) = the restoration of the house of David as promised by God through the mouth of the prophets (Luke 1:70) = the enthronement of Jesus on the throne of David his father to which he is heir (Luke 1:32-33).

That is the Messianic hope of Israel = that is the Messianic hope of primitive Christianity.

The biblical goal: the return of the Messiah to justly administer / govern the world with those who belong to him.

“They sang a new hymn: You are worthy to take the scroll and break the seal of it, because you were sacrificed, and with your blood you bought men for God of every race, language, people and nation and made them a line of kings and priests, to serve our God and to rule the world.”

(Revelation 5:9-10, Jerusalem Bible)
