We pray, right? Prayer should be part of every day of every believer. What about praying for the sick, the seriously ill? Is it possible that person's illness is being used by God for a much bigger reason? One of the most fertile grounds for getting closer to God is times of death and illness. Illness affects more than just the person who is ill! Family and friends are involved and in this day and age, whether we like to hear it or not, most people we encounter have had seeds of the gospel message implanted within them! When praying for the sick, make sure you ask God to open the hearts of family and friends so those implanted seeds begin to grow. Remind Him how often times He allows bad things to happen in one's life so that person can see the Answer! Certainly pray for a complete healing for the ill but please also include spiritual growth for family and friends affected! One more thing, sometimes the ill may be so far "out of it" due to coma, medication or mental condition that we cannot communicate with them. We are simply unable to explain the Gospel message under that circumstance if they are not a believer or weak in their walk. However, guess who Designed and Built the body of that ill person? He has ways of reaching them, even if we cannot. Bring that up with Him during prayer. Maybe you don't have an ill person in your circle. Contact your pastor. Many churches will supply you with a weekly list of prayer requests which you can use in your prayer sessions. The best time to pray and best place? Out loud in a private place! Out loud so you can hear yourself and a private place so there are no distractions. Praying while driving means you need to concentrate on your driving while praying. Not good. Give God your full attention!
