I have observed that the terms
confession and repentance
are often misunderstood.

The disconnect seems to be about the term confession.
The term repent, or repented is used where confession is intended.

- "Did you repent of your sins?"
Instead of, "Did you confess your sins?"

- "I repented and came to Jesus."
Instead of, "I confessed my sins when I came to Jesus."

Confess = to admit, or agree with God

Repent = to turn away from sin and toward God.

Let's discuss.
1) How do confession and repentance work independently?
2) How do confession and repentance work together?
3) Which comes first: repentance, or confession?
4) How does confession and repentance work in an on-going way?
5) Or do we only need to repent of our sin once? (loaded question)
6) Do you define these terms differently than I do? How?
7) When you came to Jesus, did you repent of your sins? (loaded question)

1) How do confession and repentance work independently?

Normally when someone repents, they then confess.
That has nothing to do with Salvation.
Its just a religious game that makes them feel better.

"oh, i feel so much better now that i told someone about my sinning.......and now i'll start over, and later repent of it again, and confess some more".

See that? That is a Religious GAME, played by millions of people.

Now...There is "repentance" that God accepts, and that is not to repent from sin.

See,....notice.......... """""While we were YET sinners, Christ died for us"""".

So, what you hear, being taught by people who want to be heard, but dont have anything to offer you worth hearing, is.....>"you must repent of those sins, before God will have ya".

And that is nonsense......

Notice again........>"""Jesus came into the world to save SINNERS""".......not to save repenting sinners.......>>However, it sounds so spiritual when someone is ranting on a forum or from a Pulpit... about "Repenting"", ... because that is how they want you to feel about them.......that they are "very spiritual".
After all, if they talk all day about Law, and OSAS, and commandment keeping, and repenting, and confessing sin... then they must be a very advanced Chrisitan.
Right?

A.) NO.

The are a very carnal christian or not a Christian at all....., and if they are a Christian...they are stuck here.>>"sin, comfess, repeat", and that is all their broken Christianity is ever going to achieve.
That is a failed Discipleship.
That is a useless Christian.

So, what type of Repentance, is God looking for = from a SINNER?

Just one..

A.) To repent from unbelief........... see that?..........that is FAITH........as when you turn from unbelief (Repent)... you have turned to FAITH in Christ, and our "faith is counted by God, as (Christ's) Righteousness"... (On our Behalf).
And you must turn from unbelief, before you die....or you die 'in your sins" a eternally damned Christ Rejector, and there is no way back from that found in Eternity..........Reader.
You will go to Hell unforgiven, and you stay that way for as long as God lives.

Dont be that one...
Come to Jesus......Give Him your heart....... Trust in Christ.........God is waiting for you... and Jesus loves you.

What is the end result of confessing your sin, or repenting from your sin, if you are not a Christian?

A.) Nothing........as you'll do it again.

What is the end result of confessing your sin, and repenting from your sin, if you are a Christian?

A.) You'll feel guilt relief , and less condemnation.....untill the next time you do it all over again.

So what is God's perspective of a Christian, who does not understand their Salvation, and is trying to confess to stay saved or confess to become "re-saved" again?

He says......Go to Hebrews 6:1, and stop being that one, and never go back there again.

He says to study Romans 4:8 and 2 Corin 5:19, and then study Romans 3:24. and finally start your discipleship, as REAL FAITH.
