The Trinity can be explained as the image of God mirrored in each (one) man. As the Father is to God, the soul is to man .. as the Holy Ghost is to God, the "inward man" (soul + spirit) is to man. As the Son is to God, the body is to man. Now these 3 are said to be "Persons" because they go through changes wherein they are different in body and will. The Father in heaven made Himself the Holy Ghost (Word/Spirit + Light/Son), the pre-incarnate Son in order to create all that exists in the physical realm. Then the Holy Ghost "made Himself" into the Son begetting the Son by the Spirit.
Remember when God told Moses to tell the Jews "I am that I am?" God/pre-incarnate Christ was telling them the He was God who was, is, and will be. Then Jesus told the Pharisees the very same thing "I am" and they took up stones to stone Him. They both were claiming to be one with the Father thought different persons than the Father. And so, upon His death, the Son returned to His Holy Ghost body .. and in the kingdom of God, He will become His Father's body so that we may see the one God face to face, Rev 22:4.
Now man is also a trinity IF he is saved. He WAS a sinner .. he IS a "new man created in righteousness and true holiness" .. he WILL BE eternally a glorified man and "wholly blameless in the day of Christ." Do you see how Trinity takes time and creation into account?
