Be His Lily of the Field

Many of us have been brought up to be masculine due to feminism. We think we have to be in control, carry heavy burdens, endure stress, and worry about all that's on our plate.

But to bless our husbands, we are to be more like the lilies of the field. We store up positive energy to bring our husbands peace and help them to relax. Keep your whimsy, your smile, your laughter. Take care of your physical body and give your anxieties to the Lord. Consider the words of the Sermon of the Mount. Be like the lily of the field, trusting always in the goodness of the Father. Then we are free to bless our husbands with a peaceful and happy countenance.

Sometimes, it's tempting to get too serious about the duties of life and leave no room for happiness and whimsy.

To have whimsy, give yourself permission to do things just to make yourself bubbly and happy. It's important for the atmosphere of your home to lighten up, laugh, and enjoy your house too.

Amen! Build joy ... listen to some worship music while you plant some flowers. Flowers are beneficial to pollinators, and for the food supply ...and they add beauty to our surroundings, and bring simple joys.

"Grow up. Get serious. Apply yourself. Work really hard and you'll make a good life."

This is the message I was taught. I never expected to find a husband who wanted to make a good life  for me.

Now he simply wants me to be at ease and enjoy life so he can be at peace and enjoy life. The playful, girlish nature I tried to put away is the very thing he wants to see more of. Whimsy, playfulness, and childlikeness are all very important. Femininity is important.

Sometimes the issue is how we approach homemaking. We should be less like contracted employees on call at all times and more like lilies of the field. If the main goal of homemaking is a peaceful and fun atmosphere we should also prioritize doing things that bring us peace and whimsy so we can provide that and not be stressed about our duties all the time.

I definitely have to be humble and realize that while I may want to do a lot of different things in the home which are good, it is not good for me to try do all of them at once. I can only focus on a few things at a time, no matter what my intentions are. Im a woman with great limitations but there is liberty in remembering that.
