It stated if there was a nuclear war amongst the main countries to possess those weapons, a cloud would cover one third of the earth, meaning the sun and moon would not shine on one third of the earth, one third of the earth woulde be covered in darkness. One third of the land and trees would be burned up. It would be a horror unequalled since the creation of the world

They need some excellent food harvests to catch up. Their dairy products are the tattletale. They have been becoming limited in number versus an almost endless variety. The potatoes harvests also have been crap this past year.
Both meaning they don't have the labor pool or men working in the farms the way they used to. Then there's the infrastructures that keep degrading. Supplies for industry that keep running short.

As far as Russian nukes....
I seriously doubt they have any ability to work anymore. The Tritium required to make them work is exorbitantly laborious and expensive and has a short half life. Meaning it's needed to be replaced every 20 years. It turns into lead in 40.
Russia's government receipts and military expenses this past year is what the USA spends on its nuclear arsenal each year. Meaning the Bear is toothless with its nuclear arsenal. Maybe, possibly, in the most favorable of circumstances, they have less than a dozen missiles actually capable of working as designed.
Just because you have fissionable material does not mean you have a fusion bomb. You might have a dirty fission bomb....and using it will get you destroyed as the whole planet will hate you for the fallout. Just like the Chernobyl accident angered everyone...and it wasn't even due to a missile.
Any dirty nuke missiles will get the sender absolutely destroyed as a result by massive fusion bombs that are hundreds of times more powerful.

I don't have fear about it.

I have more worry about surviving a nuclear exchange than dying in one. Kinda....
For me it means a LOT more work (im retired) as I will be one of a few people who is an industrial electrician fully competent in motor controls. And things will need to be rebuilt to access water in wells and refrigeration and farming equipment for storage of farming harvests. (Grain elevators and livestock barns require specialty knowledge which I have)
Same with refineries, wood shops and hospitals with operating rooms. I've never done boat electrics but I know how they are done.

China is also resembling USSR during the cold War. LOTS of corruption and big shows of military power but mostly just window dressing and not a lot of real capability.

Im not out to make excuses for Putin, but at the time, I didnt think it wise for Nato to expand as it did under Clinton I think it was. The three Baltic states, and Poland.
