Im currently reading the book of Job... I find it heard to read cos its almost like a play with characters always talking
I don't understand why God allowed Satan to do all that to Job...
And in the grander picture why does God let Satan do what he does...

The question is Cristo, does God and Satan do deals with each other as portrayed in the first chapters of Job. Personally I doubt it.
There is also the line of thinking that the first few chapters of Job were added by another Author as the literary style is slightly different.
Also there is the idea floating around that the story of Job was just a story ie, not factual but instead there to teach certain lessons or make certain points similar to stories which Jesus told like the rich man and Lazarus.
Also was going to say, God does allow certain things to happen, only He really knows the reasons.
But we are reminded about Romans 8:28
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

Just trying to type this out correctly, don't know how to word it, but there are also certain people, like His prophets, that God may reveal to them too, that know the reasons.

There are certain things that are definitely hard to explain, for example, why does someone's baby die before birth in a miscarriage, etc.
There could be a number of reasons these things happening, I guess.

I tend to agree with Josho.. Pain, suffering, evil...
It must be beyond the understanding of our limited minds...
I used to think that the evil one was behind all the pain and suffering but Jesus was once asked why a man was cripple and his reply was not that it was Satan or any kind of punishment but that Gods work cab be seen in him which i don't really understand

Adam sold out to the enemy. He is the ruler of this world and we continue to give him permission. We push God away and are left to the master of our choice. Were it not for Gods protection at various junctures we would long be destroyed.
@Cristo Rei here is the thread, not too many reports of building damage.
Have not seen pictures of any other damage except for the Chapel Street building so far, biggest quake in 200 years for Victoria they reckon. And the biggest quake in Australia since 1997.
There has now been 1700+ insurance claims after this earthquake, only a few of the claims are significant.
Update, the aftershocks are still happening, there have been reports some people felt some tremors at 2:30am this morning and 7am. I think I was sleeping.

We have inherited death from Adam. God did not create us with death in our Genes.
Death is the result of sin....plants, animals and babies die....they have not sinned yet they are subject to diminishment (death)

How does he fix it? He gives us another head, another representative .....he himself condescends and becomes as one of us. We kill him; that's how poorly we understand/see yet he allows this.....he suffers long and is resurrected....for us; each single one of us. He is our new head, our new representative. see Romans 5.
This is the good news the angels on Bethlehems hills sang of....good news for all men....none excluded!
This in essence is the Kingdom of God. This is the revealing of God's Character in its fullness. Can we believe it? Will we believe it?
