Watching the Senate hearing on Judge Barret.

Senator Sasse has been talking about our First Amendment (to the U.S. Constitution) freedoms and how they are interrelated. They really do work together, and if one of these freedoms is denied, all of them are affected.

For those who don't know what the First Amendment rights are, here they are in a nutshell:

1. Religion
2. Speech
3. Press
4. Assembly
5. Petition

Some needed comic relief in the hearing! Senators are going at each other (tongue-in-cheek) about their states' baseball teams, lol!

The baseball thing is a remark about the first time an actual interview of a supreme Court judge nominee happened.

They talked about baseball. That was all.

Before that no one ever interviewed a nominee. It was a slam dunk thing so long as the candidate was a lawyer in good standing and exercised judicial restraint.

Now then...

This interview and hearing opened up the eyes of many people for good reasons.

And it was one of the subjects that got so little press but was a huge impact on people listening.
And it centered on Judicial activism.

If the constitution can be read to contain anything the Justices want it to...then none of it is guaranteed anymore. Freedom of speech, protection from our government taking over our lives. Private property rights no longer exist... nothing guaranteed by the constitution is sacred.

It says what it says and that's all it says.

And that has now become a very real thing. Barrett opened the eyes of many people to understand that in her simple but effective manner.

Keep interviewing her harshly...you are doing yourself no favors whatsoever.

Keep being obfuscating about Court Packing... people know that you want to do it so you can effectively rewrite the constitution without actually doing so.
