Wow! that sounds like an awesome place to live. Rural and at a more gentle pace. Is it mostly sunny in your part of the world? What is your favorite thing to do there?

It’s sunny during the day; dark at night. In the winter it’s gray during the day; still dark at night. There are a lot of outdoor activities here - hunting, fishing, swimming, boating, hiking - but my favorite thing to do is sit on my back porch and read.

I live in Los Angeles but the city although huge has many different neighborhoods. So you can enjoy all sorts of things. We also have Chinatown, Little Tokyo, Koreatown, Thai Town, Little Bangladesh, each with good ethnic food and shops.

We also have a large Hispanic population and the roots of Los Angeles are from Spain and then Mexico. So I enjoy the Spanish and Mediterranean architecture of which we have many old lovely homes.

Where our city began is Olvera Street....now a tourist attraction with Mexican cafes and shops. My mom and I would often take the nice subway there to walk around and eat... besides going other places.

My neighborhood has restaurants, banks, markets. Also I'm just two short blocks from a subway station. Each subway station has different art works and color schemes. I always loved going on the subway and could get to many places via subway. Nowadays I have to take the taxi...now 75 years old with a cane.

You can take the city bus (one hour ride from me) to Santa Monica Beach and pier. There are cafes and a small amusement park on the pier.

This is Olvera Street where L.A. was founded.

Wow! That's an awesome place to live, @Debp. You seem to be close to everything! Love it!

I have been out for a few hours. Internet down, no phone connection, power outage. Lots of high winds and storms came through today and took out everything. The fire brigade was busy because I could hear the sirens (old world war sirens) going off a number of times, so someone may have knocked out the power. Back to normal again. The weather looks nice again...:rain?:

@Riven, Well, it's just coming into spring so It's beginning to warm up after all that winter rain. I am looking forward to getting outside more and into the gardens. Even do some hiking. I am thinking of starting a prayer/hiking group and tackling one of the many mountain ranges around where I live. That would be an awesome thing to do. Yes I know who Xena Warrior Princess is. We also had Avatar, LOTRs, The Hobbit made here as well. No GI, all real scenery. Mostly down the SI. :clmSmlx
I went to NZ and seen where Gollom was made and all that, and the show's houses in the ground and the Pub.
My nippers were into that, and they went to see a school friend who moved back home to NZ.
The friend and her mum and dad had no regards Gollom or anything of the show or go look at any of it at all.

I was impressed with north NZ, like dawg them clear Rivers and all.

Went to windy Wellington first, like dawg, is it windy their. loved it tho. but for beggers and paper laying about in the City.

When in NZ, I wondered why would anyone want to come to stay or work in Australia for.

I seen huge bumbelbees in NZ ! our bumbelbees in QLD are not much bigger than the normal bee. and I thought, Ok, So by rights they should not be able to fly ? but in NZ it was like Dawg !

The only thing that I like about the show is Gollom ! my nippers did Judo and one dude who took his girl to Judo, he look much like Gollom haha ! he was a bouncer and a nutcase, that got his girl kicked out for being too savage.

Aren't there better job opportunities in Australia?

Hey all, I thought I'd ask some questions and would love to know;

1. What do you love about your town, state, or country?

2. What is your favorite thing you like to do or see there? :clmSmlx
1 Nothing now to be truly proud of. the Socialist have destroyed it all ! such has all become a creep show joke. a Andy Pandy show.
2 I liked dirtbike riding way out in the sticks best ! but to old now. one has to be fit to deal with all such. it's the real hard stuff I loved.

I used to often go up these beautiful steps in downtown Los Angeles. They have a slender waterfall coming down in the center.

Across from the steps is our main huge library... it's the building with the pyramid on the top. There are also three fountains in the library park.

This is another lovely fountain in a park near City Hall in downtown Los Angeles.
