Galations 3:27: couple different versions:

Galatians 3:27, KJV: "For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ."

Galatians 3:27, NASB: "For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ."

-------

2 Corinthians 5:2-3 In fact, the reason we groan is that we long to be clothed with our dwelling from heaven. 3If we do indeed put it on, we will certainly not be found naked.

1 Corinthians 15:53 For this perishable body must put on [be clothed with] imperishability, and this mortal body must put on [be clothed with] immortality.

Ephesians 4:22-24 As far as your former way of life is concerned, you were taught to take off the old self, which is corrupted by its deceitful desires, 23and to be renewed continually in the spirit of your mind, 24and to put on the new self, which has been created to be like God in righteousness and true holiness.

Colossians 3:9-10 Do not lie to each other since you have put off the old self with its practices, 10and put on the new self, which is continually being renewed in knowledge, according to the image of its Creator.

Ephesians 6:11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can stand against the schemes of the Devil.

1 Peter 5:5 Clothe yourselves with humility.

Colossians 3:12 Therefore, as God’s elect, holy and loved, clothe yourselves with heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.

Romans 13:12 So let us put away the deeds of darkness and put on the weapons of light.

Colossians 3:5 So put to death whatever is worldly in you: sexual immorality, uncleanness, lust, evil desire, and greed, which is idolatry.

Romans 6:6 We know that our old self was crucified with him

Romans 8:13 But if by the Spirit you put to death the actions of the body, you will live.

So if it is not too personal, do you believe you have clothed yourselves in Christ? What does that mean to you? Do you believe it is a one time thing, or is it a daily thing? I like to think of the spiritual armor for this. I think the shoes of peace is what I have to remember to put on more then the others.

Being clothed in righteousness, in salvation, in Christ, in humility etc is a continuous state for the Christian. From my studies I have gleaned that the Greek word egkomboomai in 1 Peter 5 has to do with girding oneself as a servant would in order to complete tasks, wearing an apron or similar item fixed in a way to be both protective and of least hinderance whilst working.

1Pe 5:5 Likewise, you younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resists the proud, and gives grace to the humble.

I don't like metaphors to be used as rods to beat us with so instead of being clothed or putting on becoming some sort of guilt-based religious ritual I consider it more as having a desire to be mentally and spiritually prepared with Christlike characteristics and qualities in place. Likewise spiritual armour is to be used whenever necessary as follows:

Helmet of Salvation = Thoughts Free of Condemnation.
Breastplate of Righteousness = Heart Full of Godliness.
Girdle of Truth = Covering Secured by Living Proof.
Footwear of the Preparation of the Gospel of Peace = Stability in Readiness to Preach.
Shield of Faith = Protection Impenetrable because of Belief.
Sword of the Spirit = Attack Effectual with the Word that is Perfect.
Praying in the Spirit = Requests Holy not that of the Hypocrite.

For me the simplest way to think of this is in the words put off the old man and put on the new man. I think the process of doing that is reflected in the words, renewing the mind.

We were born and grew up a certain way, the way of the flesh, then, we are born again a new creation. But we are so used to thinking the old way, and now we have to learn to think the new way.

Having been clothed in Christ, to me, means that we are immersed into Him to share His life as our new life, and that we then are to put this into practical application. And those are the words, clothe yourself with humility, with compassion, kindness, gentleness, patience, these are all how Christ loves, and we put that on, which is to say, let that reality overwhelm all that is beneath it.

We feel disdain, but that is a flesh feeling. So we put on compassion, knowing this is our true self, this is how Jesus Christ is, this is what the Holy Spirit empowers us to feel. We accept that by faith, choosing to obey the Gospel, that is, to be the new man in Christ.

Much love!

I love how you posted all these verses!

On this one . . . the perishable will be clothed upon with the imperishable, the mortal will be clothed upon with immortality.

What this means to me, is that the one comes upon the other, with it's nature or properties overwhelming and transforming the other.

The mortal puts on immortality, that is, from outside, immortality comes, clothes the mortal, and now what was mortal becomes immortal.

Christ comes to us, clothes us, and what was not Christlike becomes conformed to Christ.

Much love!

I just love how God gives us all sorts of new "clothes" for our "wardrobe" when we come to Jesus Christ. :)

@Mayflower Ezekiel 16 also provides a wonderful picture of God's clothing in blessing that He graciously bestows.

I like the imagery here farouk.

“Then I passed by you and saw you, and behold, you were at the time for love; so I spread My skirt over you and covered your nakedness. I also swore to you and entered into a covenant with you so that you became Mine,” declares the Lord G od . “Then I bathed you with water, washed off your blood from you and anointed you with oil. I also clothed you with embroidered cloth and put sandals of porpoise skin on your feet; and I wrapped you with fine linen and covered you with silk. I adorned you with ornaments, put bracelets on your hands and a necklace around your neck. I also put a ring in your nostril, earrings in your ears and a beautiful crown on your head. Thus you were adorned with gold and silver, and your dress was of fine linen, silk and embroidered cloth. You ate fine flour, honey and oil; so you were exceedingly beautiful and advanced to royalty. Then your fame went forth among the nations on account of your beauty, for it was perfect because of My splendor which I bestowed on you,” declares the Lord G od .
Ezekiel 16:8‭-‬14 NASB

I also notice what comes next in the scripture, is how those clothes were wasted and Israel was judged. Ill have to look at that closer later. But what great imagery in how we are clothed in blessing.
