John 19: Jesus is on the cross.
He is hanging there is torment, physically and emotionally.
Yet he take the time to personally give instruction to John and to his mother Mary,

He says to them this is your mother and this is your son.

This speaks a lot to how much Jesus want to care for his mother.

but what else does this show us about Jesus?

I guess it shows that even in his agony He still had the presence of mind to think of others.

Hi New Member, welcome to the forum, you nailed it, that is exactly what it means, Jesus even above his own brothers put the care of his mother in the hands of his close friend John. It shows not only did he care about her physical well being, as his brothers would no doubt have provided, but her spiritual well being as well.

Probably, as a possible cousin to Jesus, John was a man who had proved his faith. He was the disciple whom Jesus loved dearly, and this spiritual relationship transcended that of the flesh; in fact, there is no indication that his fleshly brothers were, as yet, had put faith in him.-Matthew 12:46-50; John 7:5
