DEI stands for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, a framework aimed at creating fair, respectful, and inclusive environments where all individuals can thrive.

Diversity
refers to the presence of differences within a group, organization, or society, including characteristics such as race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, age, religion, culture, veteran status, and more. It emphasizes who is represented and the variety of perspectives present in an environment.
Equity focuses on fairness and justice, ensuring that individuals have access to the resources and opportunities they need based on their unique circumstances. Unlike equality, which treats everyone the same, equity adjusts treatment to achieve fair outcomes, addressing historical or systemic disadvantages.
Inclusion is about creating a culture where all individuals feel valued, respected, and fully integrated into the organization. It ensures that diverse voices are heard and that everyone has a sense of belonging and the ability to contribute meaningfully.

Purpose and Benefits

DEI initiatives aim to remove barriers, prevent discrimination, and foster collaboration. Organizations that implement DEI effectively often see improved employee morale, innovation, and business performance. For example, companies with high ethnic diversity are more likely to outperform financially, and gender-diverse teams show higher profitability

In a previous thread there was a post about a woman who was hired as a DEI hire to man a ship.
DEI does not function on qualifications or merit. It simply gives everyone the opportunity to do whatever any other person with a Professional Skill is qualified for.

Case in point:
When my dad was returned from Rehab that I had sent him to so I could have a few days of respite, the two people on the ambulance that returned him are what I would consider DEI Hires.
Neither of them knew how to properly transport my dad from the gurney to his bed. They were going to stand him on his feet and pivot him around to sit him on the bed.

Dad hasn't used his legs in over 2 years. There is no strength, no muscle, and hardly much feeling in them.
They literally could of broken his legs.
I had to sharply disagree with their assessment on how to transfer him.
Eventually, after being spat on in the face, they did as I suggested.

These are EMT's running an Ambulance for Emergency Situations.

It has absolutely nothing to do with someone's sexual orientation.
It has to do with the QAULITY of their ABILITY to do the job Professionally.

For this reason, many DEI programs in the United States have been discontinued.
Because it puts a lot of people at RISK.

Thank you for your posts.

RE Affirmative Action: the AA law, still in effect, actually says that all personnel employment decisions must be made on merit. DEI is a perversion of AA.

AA is basically about recruiting: if companies do their best to attract qualified female and minority candidates, and merit is the primary selection principle, then over time the percentage of females and minorities in any given company job should reflect the availability of the same in job seekers.

Companies did themselves disservice when they fudged the hiring, in order to make their in-house percentages look better. When female or minority new hires do not have the skills to compete, they receive smaller raises on average, so then over time the companies develop severe salary discrepancies. Etc.

AA would not likely have been necessary if all employment laws held companies to the standard of merit.

Peace.

Pretty sure I don't want to fly in a plane piloted by a DEI hire.

They should have called it Diversity, Inclusion and Equity but the acronym DIE would’ve revealed the true intent.

DEI sounds great on the surface but one only needs to look a little further to see that it's wrong. People ought to be hired on merit rather than race, sexual orientation, gender or anything else.

I want the best of pilots to be piloting a plane. I want the best surgeon to be doing an operation. I want the best mechanic to be fixing my car. Nothing else should matter except for their ability to do that particular job. DEI hiring is not only wrong, it's dangerous.

The word diversity comes from the Latin word "diveder" which means to divide. And that's exactly what diversity does in the long run. Instead of achieving unity it only achieves division.

Well, I was kind of informed this morning, that the "company" that is covering his "home hospice visits"
Did a review a couple weeks ago,
And, apparently Dad isn't dying fast enough so they may have to discontinue the service.
Well I can't say I didn't do a little bit of research and Maine is facing some challenging times at the moment, about little things like fraud.
I explained to the girl who wears a "nurse" tag, that I guess they have to do what they have to do.
And If I were you I would start putting out applications and looking for another job, because "double billing" can mean prison time and if she don't want to get caught up in those scams, it would be best if she walk away now.

So now I have to find dad a medical bed because no doubt the rental I am being provided with now will disappear.
We'll be fine, and dad is doing well for 91 and a stroe victim from a jab they never should of given him.
What gets me, is they been billing his Insurance and billing Medicare.
Oopsie.

Like those daycare and learing centers, they are all over the place. And when the grift is up, they wrap up and try to hide.
I don't care where they go or what they do.
As long as I have dad and he has me, and we both have the Lord, we will be just fine.

They have no official education for Nurse or CNA, they get their certificates from online during covid.
Think about that. I did.

Didn't earn it, covers a lot of industries, even when they mean well, and they want to do good, when you need a professional, they are nowhere to be found.
Hopefully , now that everything is being a bit more exposed, we will be able to change course and get back to real training and real education, because our Seniors will suffer the most if we don't.
