If Jesus wanted, he could have destroyed the Roman Empire. He was here to die, so he let them take his life.aspen2 said:i think Jesus would enjoy the party.
Well then Jesus certainly would not call me crazy for celebrating his birth, if I were to do such a thing, on his proper birthday instead of a pretend birthday. I rather watch all the Hebrew feast days. They were prophetic time lines of things to come fulfilled by Christ at their proper times. Any other day is just that, a day invented by man and will not help us understand anything.Polt said:What would Jesus say?
"You have heard me say call no one a fool. But, verily, some people are crazy."
I think Jesus would approve of people worshiping Him by celebrating His birthday. I think Jesus would be the first to rebuke someone for criticizing Christmas. And, the crazy person would defend himself by saying to Jesus, "If you were the son of God, you would know Christmas is of pagan origin. We should all weep and cry on December 25 because it's so close to the Winter solstice."
I understand it was pagan Kings who were the ones that celebrated their birthday, and no one else did at the time. Personally I don't celebrate such a thing but I understand those who do, having honor for Christ their king. However, I think there's are strong argument against such things and yet I know our deeds will stand or fall before our king.lesjude said:
All the historical and archaeological evidence supports the December 25th date which has been observed since the early 3rd century we know of and probably before that.Thereisbutonetrueking said:Considering Jesus was not born on the 25th of December and Santa was invented to replace Odin, the Norse high god, I think he would be reather confused as to what we where doing.
May I ask you to perhaps reconsider that? Throughout the Old Testament, and into the New, God ordained certain days be set aside to remember the great works He had done on behalf of His people, in liberating them from slavery, in blessing them with a good and fruitful land, in giving them His Law by which they could draw near to Him, be reconciled with Him, and have fellowship with Him, worship Him.mjrhealth said:His question would be, " what has christmas got to do with Me??" Do you really think He is bothered with such things, Christ is about mens salvation not birthday celebrations. That is a man thing.

Reconsider what ?? WHy is it that man comes up with "traditions" which pleases him than expects God to be happy with mans foolishness. Jesus said." little children such as these enter into teh kingdom of heaven", but man always far to grown up to be as a child and to just love God, its the Mary Martha thing, far too many running around serving in the flesh instead of doing the better thing and sitting at His feet.May I ask you to perhaps reconsider that?
The birth of Jesus Christ is not a tradition man came up with. Nor is his resurrection. They are historical facts, they did actually occur in time on a specific day in the past, testified to by those who were eyewitnesses. That truth is central to the Gospel.mjrhealth said:Reconsider what ?? WHy is it that man comes up with "traditions" which pleases him than expects God to be happy with mans foolishness. He died here at home just the way he lived, worshipping Jesus, passionate for God' s word and compassionate toward God' people. Les and I were married 46 years and walked with Jesus together 35 yrs by God' s grace in one accord. He trained our seven children to seek God with all their heart and not to let other people do their thinking for them. He would encourage you that God is sovereign and we need to fear Him!
