I think there's a verse that says something like if a person is controlling, that is like having the spirit of witchcraft.

Can anyone give the reference? Also, your thoughts on the verse if you like.

I would say, it is more so a broad study rather than a single verse.

Meaning…
Humans have a natural curiosity regarding things they CAN and can NOT …
see, hear, smell, taste, touch, feel.

The “spiritual” realm plays a role in the curiosity, the POWER and AWE.
The “natural curiosity” of manKIND;
IS the catalyst, to Draw IN a mans “ATTENTION”.

* God “omnipotent” / “all powerful”;
IS the “giver and taker” OF power (be it Great Power or Lesser Power),
* but “All” Power of God, is Not Given another.

* The “Fine Line”…/ a FIXED Objective of ONE having “greater POWER” (THAN or OVER) An other.

* Learning, Knowing and Recognizing “the FIXED Objective” of One “vying For” the “Attention” of An Other.

* “Underlying FIXED OBJECTIVE” -
SUBMISSION…CONTROL…OBEDIENCE…

* RESULT…”FOR” WHAT-ever an “OTHER” is “Freely willing” TO …
Submit To, Obey, Be Controlled.
* Love, Kindness, Beauty, Peace, Joy…
* Terror, Discord, Discomfort, Ugly, Misery…

I think often, people focus their “ATTENTION” on the “VISIBLE” “power and AWE” of an other…
An “THINK”; by some means of “association” to the “Other”… “they ALSO” Will BE personally Viewed / Accredited;
as, powerful, awesome, worthy to follow, serve.

God has A FIXED Objective…by, through, of; His Word of Truth and Power. Gifts, Blessings, Rewards.
* exalt, praise, worship, TO the “Himself”Unseen.
* His “Works” ever presently “seen” in the Sky’s.

Evil has a FIXED Objective…by, through, of;
A gambit of Trickery, Deceit, Drugs, Witchcraft, Illusions, Rewards, Changing the fixed meaning of words, etc.
* exalt, praise, worship, TO the seen, Idols, Statues, kings, Celebrities, Tangible Objects.
* “Works” seen in public squares, mountain tops, buildings exteriors, interiors, jewelry, art, trinkets, tv, videos, Tats, clothing, entertainment, mantles, etc.

I think the Big Picture is:
Heed…Warnings…Caution…Beware…
of WHAT CAN capture your Attention…
And The “RESULT”… for that which you Freely Choose to “associate, follow, yield, bond.)
