Continued from: Keeping His Commands: John 14:20-23 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them. 22Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, "But, LORD, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?" 23Jesus replied, "Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching". My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.

It is necessary to obey the Lord to be successful in life and to be prepared to live with Him forever. But, it is also necessary to love Him if we are to "really" obey Him. With love, obedience is only a duty-with love, obedience brings "joy and gladness in full measure- complete and overflowing" John 15:11

Keeping the commands of our Lord is a precious thing in the life of any child of God. But to be more and more obedient, we must learn to hear what He is saying to us.
Matthew 11:29

Love Always, Walter

How do you define sucess?

How do you apply this teaching to the christians in the world who have lived in poverty their whole lives and have been murdered because they were Christian.

First of all, I would say: How you define success will be based entirely upon your own values, career ambitions, and life experience. Although you should be honest in your answer, it’s also a savvy strategy to try to show how your perspective on success aligns with the employer’s needs and would make you a productive employee at their organization.

2nd. How do you apply this teaching to the christians in the world who have lived in poverty their whole lives and have been murdered because they were Christian.

We are pointing People/Christians to Jesus Christ with the issues of the scriptures, rightly dividing the word of truth, the rest in this life as a result, is up to God in His kingdom.

Some plant, and some water, but God giveth the increase.

A materialistic answer and one that ignores the very real suffering that Christians are expeiencing in the world.

A more 'spiritual' answer would have pointed out Pauls comment about having learnt to be content in what ever state he found himself.

A lesson we all need to learn, just as we all need to be aware of and praying for our brothers and sister in their real need as well as taking what eveer action we can.

Amen, according to rightly dividing the scriptures, but not to please ourselves.
