Where is the hunger for the things of God? The perennial question. As we have turned the church into an institution and pay people to run it, it has become an...institution. That produces a don't rock the boat mentality. Maintain the status quo. Keep the money rolling in. Don't upset people. Make it an ejoyable social club. Don't get serious about the Bible. Keep the homilies going and avoid solid challenging teaching. Make everything feel good.

End result...blah!.

We need a revial but you won't get one unless you want it. Moral of the story. We don't want a revival that is why we haven't had one.

Affluence is a killer when it comes to a full on expereince of God. Mainly because if you are affluent you don't need God. That is why the supernatural takes place in countires where they don't have much. In western society, we are affluent by comparison. Go into any church lot and you won't see many old cars. Go to any church and you won't see many wearing non-fanshionable clothes. Go to a church function and you will see the finest of food. We need to turn our affluence into effluence. Wash it away down the drain.

Having experienced revival myself, I am aghast at the state of the church which is content with second best. If only it would admit to the fact there has to be more. If only it would give the Holy Spirit pre-eminence instead of the programme. If only it would stand on the promises instead of sitting on the premises. If only it would die to its denominational dictates. If only the leaders would die to themselves and their ministry.

If only....

Come Holy Spirit. A particular church asked God for this. And do you know what. He came. They stood aside and let him do what he wanted to do, not what they wanted to do. And as they say, the rest is history. Having experienced the fullness of God that the Holy Spirit brings, there is NOTHING like it. Everything that you do is nothing in comparison to the power of God descending on a meeting.

But it won't happen unless you want it to happen. And if you want it to happen it starts on your knees in the presence of God admitting that without him you can do NOTHING. Until you find that out you are wasting your time and energy. You are just sowing in the wind and it becomes chaff.

If you don't invite the Holy Spirit to come you might as well not meet, unless you just want a social get together. Jesus said he would build HIS church, not yours. And if your church is not his church, you might as well ditch it because you won't achieve anything at all.
