Romans 9:24 Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?

In Romans 9 through 11 Paul is speaking of the remnant of Israel and not the body of Christ, the church in this dispensation. The remnant of Israel was not comprised only of Jews, but Gentiles as well.

9:25 As he saith also in Osee, I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved.

God was speaking to Israel in Hosea 2:23 and saying that Israel was not his people, believing Israel was; this can be seen in 1 Peter 2:10 as well.

9:26 And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God.

God was speaking in Hosea 1:9-10 of the believing remnant of Israel.

9:27 Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:

God said in Isaiah 10:20-22 that the remnant of Israel would be saved.

The Gentiles in Romans 9:24 above are the Gentiles who are members of the remnant of Israel. It is this remnant that is spoken of in the surrounding verses.

The Gentiles grafted into the good olive tree in Romans 11:17 are the Gentiles who are part of the believing remnant of Israel.

I believe that the olive tree is the church of Jesus Christ; which formerly was composed solely of people who belonged to the seed of Jacob.

When Christ came, Gentiles were graffed into the olive tree and certain of the seed of Jacob were taken out because of unbelief.

But, the olive tree is those who believe in the LORD because of what is written in His word.

God says that if you don't believe in His Son, you don't believe in Him (1 John 2:23).

So, those who were of the olive tree before, failing to believe in the Son, ended up being removed from the olive tree because of their unbelief.

Those who chose to believe in the Son continued to be a remnant of natural branches in the olive tree; while there were also those Gentiles who, believing in the Son, were graffed in as wild olive branches in place of those who were removed because of unbelief.

For being connected to the olive tree is established by faith in Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

A case can be made that some Gentiles are in fact Jews (spiritually)...just read Romans 2:25-29.

In this dispensation there is neither Jew or Gentile, but one new man.
During the period when Peter and the twelve were preaching, Gentiles who believed became part of the remnant of Israel, they did not become Jews or Israel, they would enter the kingdom on earth along with believing Israel.
