Luk 3:38 Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.

If Adam was the son of God, who are the sons of God? Who are the daughters of men?

Gen 6:2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

That's a good question. Some people think the "sons of God" were men, generically, or angels. I happen to think they refer to those who exercised a measure of faith in God, trying to be like Him. But in this case, they began to backslide. It was an evidence of capitulation to sin by God's People.

When men began to select which women they wanted to marry, the inference seems to be a matter of lust, of choosing apart from consulting God. When we walk in faith, trying to be like Him, we consult Him in everything we do. When we wander from His desires, we wander into independent living, into autonomous living. We begin to live in sin.

Certainly selecting women we desire (as men) is not evil. It is the matter of consulting God first that matters, so that we live in fellowship with God and consider His Spirit in all we do. There is always a right way to do things.

In the book of Job, the sons of God are definitely angels.

However, it has been posited by some that the sons of God in Genesis are those descended from "the godly line of Seth".

I simply wonder, if that is the case, why the offspring of the sons of God and the daughters of men happened to be giants and men of renown. The story in Genesis 6 lends to the concept of the myths of the Greeks and Romans and pagan cultures being more than legend.

That made me think of when the Israelites were exchanging marriages with the Gentiles.

And then .. The story of Dinah of comes to mind.
Gen 34:1
And Dinah the daughter of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land.

And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her.

only this seems in reverse doesn't it?

the Hivite prince of the city of Shechem when Jacob entered Palestine

So the Hivites come from Canaan, which come from Ham, which came from Noah.
Have to love those geneoligies.

Which ultimately came from Adam which was a Son of God.
So, Shecham is, through a lot of generations a son of the Son of God.

So who are the daughters of Men?

In this case Jacob is Man. Dinah is his daughter, Shecham is a son of son or son.... of Adam which is the Son of God.

Jacob on the other hand.. Jacob lives by faith. that is he has a personal connection with God.
Ham on the other hand fell from Grace.. right?

Gen 9:24
And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.
Gen 9:25
And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.

And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

Not only fell from grace but was cursed too.. hmm

So that would be like Jesus calling the sadducees and pharisees sons of the devil, because they'd fallen from grace.
Even though they were from the Line of Abraham, they couldn't claim the keys to heaven because they had no faith.
Luk 3:8
Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

And here is something interesting too..
Remember when Shechem said He loved Dinah, but the only way Jacob would agree is if all the men in Hamor's camp would be circumcised..
and after they agreed, Dinah's brothers went out and slew them all?
It's the circumcision thing:

And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran,

And he gave him the covenant of circumcision: and so Abraham begat Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat the twelve patriarchs.

So ok, Shecham and party were willing to be circumcised so they could be in on that promise that was passed from Abraham to Isaac to Jacob.
They trying to climb up the wall instead of entering in at the gate.
Meaning Shecham "took" Dinah without asking.
Putting the cart before the horse.. sounds familiar ..

Throughout the Bible I see God sending Angels.
If Angels are Son's then why not send Son's instead of Angels?

But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

Psa 8:4
What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
Psa 8:5
For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

Man was created lower so his stature would be elevated above the angels.

Kind of like you have to start at the bottom and work your way up.
But Angels.. The Bible calls them messengers, not sons.

Who is the Angel of the Lord???

I don't see Son in the list, but I'll keep looking.

So far I see God himself is Angel. And God sends other Angels to be messengers, like prophets and teachers.

Yes, exactly ....taking the Word of God plainly without trying to reason it out to be what is palatable to us. AND ...by placing faith in Jesus Christ and His shed blood, we are new creations and are given power TO BECOME ...sons of God ...praise the name of Jesus!!! :)

Elohim is used to refer to disembodied spirits. So God is an elohim ...but so are angels and so will we be once we leave this flesh body. But ...we are not GOD ...and we are not angels. GOD is not an angel.
