Federal Prisoners with marijuana convictions ......50 kg of marijuana ....not kids with a small bag in their possession. In other words, to be in Federal prison, these guys were drug dealers. Alabama immediately claims that anyone to be released from the Federal crime will be tried with the state crimes on their file. Most of these were convicted of the Federal crime while the state crimes were set aside ...

These are not simple "a little weed convictions" These are major crimes...

That’s interesting, I presumed that it was those who are imprisoned because they used cannabis, which I understand is now legal in most states.
So we’re they pardoned as well , or is it only the dealers ?
I am presuming that in the states where it is now legal you cannot be arrested for handing cannabis out to others, is it like Amsterdam where it is now sold openly ?
Just curious as it is still illegal here in the U.K. , although it can be administered by a GP if it helps with a medical condition.

Each state determines what they want to do with those incarcerated due to cannibus possession. In states where it has now been legalized, those prisoners are free now, but their convictions remain on record. Biden's pardon does not supercede state law.....He can't do that. For instance, Alabama votes this year concerning cannibus, either straight legal or for medicinal use only.

I think Alabama has one Federal prison. Anyone due to be released will have their files read and there will be a determination as to whether or not that person goes free or is charged and convicted in the crimes waived as part of their Federal imprisonment. Federal prisoners typically have multiple charges when convicted. Plea deals were used to imprison for the lesser charge of dealing and to free up court time. That's what Aabama will be reviewing .... Say, there were gun charges, trafficking. A criminal may be get charged now just to keep them off the streets due to the seriousness of their crimes. Especialy when the victims are to be considered.
