Say what now?
Jews often had a lot of pride in their beards and hair. The curls especially...

So the Romans when "Scourging" someone would pull out their beards and cut their hair... shaving their heads if desired. Which was a shameful thing amongst the Jews.

The practice of becoming bald was also part of a Nazarite vow.

Nobody except for Mary knew what Jesus looked like without a beard.

John 20:14-16
14 And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.
15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.
16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
KJV

If Jesus's body did not see decay.. then why did he not appear to her the way he looked before his death?

Great question! Jesus gave his life as a human and was resurrected as a spirit being 1 Pet 3:18. He appeared to others both physically as well as a spirit. Being that he could not take back the sacrifice, (his flesh and blood) he appeared as spirit beings prior to him who interacted with humans as fleshly, but clearly not in his original body, that is why his intimate friends never recognized him.
