Why three days?

Why three days? Why did the Lord God suffer the cross on the sixth day and let it rest on the seventh day and rise on the eighth day? With the Lord our God nothing is coincidence , every thing He does is deliberate, especially when it comes to when where, and how.

For example, wasn’t it the sixth day that man was made, and what day was it that Adam and Eve where cast out of the Garden? And what day is this? The seventh where God has rested or the day after that?

You know DP, I had not thought of the above until your post.

I will venture a few comments to see what you think.

Dr. E. W. Bullinger of Companion Bible fame (amongst other of his works), makes comment on "numbers in scripture".
He has also written a book with that title.

Regarding 6, it is "the human number"; and our Lord was overcoming the sin of man!
Regarding 7, it "denotes spiritual perfection,it is the number, or hall-mark of The Holy Spirit's work"; which in this case it is reiterating the completed work of Christ regarding the sin question; and is the beginning of Satan's defeat, to be completed at the handing back to the Father the completed work at the end of the Millennial; 1Cor.15:24.
Regarding 8; it "denotes a new beginning, resurrection, our Lord Rose on the 8th day; the first day of a new week" (Jewish week), which emphasises the importance of the Jews in all God's Plans; which will not culminate until they are "Ammi".

Just to throw some things out there, in Luke 3 Adam is said to be the son of God. And on what day did the Son of God experience death of the body as men do? As you probably know it is said that Jesus is the second Adam. I have heard the number six as the number of man. Though it makes sense in that context, I’m not sure it’s the reason. If that make any sense. It seems that Friday is the day man was made and could have been the day they were cast out of the Garden. (The day they ate the day the Son of God died)
The seventh day seems to me, obvious that God let everything rest on His Word where as His Word is supreme LORD in His creation. If you notice God, “Elohim” in Hebrew meaning (Creator and Judge) is the only reference to God until creation is complete and then in Gen:2:4 “LORD God” is said. There are some who think that we are in the seventh day, because its not said in scripture evening and morning was the seventh day. And it was the eighth day that Abraham was instructed to circumcise: And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed. And Paul brings this into full circle with circumcision of the Spirit. So once Christ was resurrected, is this the eighth day? Or is that when all are resurrected?

Interesting comments DP; I have a lot of thoughts on this subject, but most are undeveloped, or need Scripture verification.
