I certainly believe in prosperity for God's children, but not by giving to the prosperity preachers so they can get filthy rich by begging for money! Did Jesus or the Apostles beg for money? NOOOOOO!
Yeah, No. Of course that is NOT the Abundance teaching if you are depending on other people to give you their money instead of earning your own!
The best examples of Abundance mentality are people who teach others to fish for themselves, especially to focus on service and teaching more fishers of men.
They pay FORWARD and do not ask in return but ask to SERVE others.
I think we need more clear separate terms for the TRUE teachings of Abundance and Proseperity
Vs
The false teachings of making demands on God or wishing things by our own will. And whatever you can the guilt trip way of using tithes or indulgences to get more blessings.
There is a right way and wrong way to do this.
I find once people or churches find their niche in serving others the money flows freely and doesn't require any coercion by negative ways only positive thanksgiving.
Look at how nonprofits like Habitat for Humanity and Doctors Without Borders kep serving people and attract all the help from volunteers or donors to do more and more. St Judes does such wonderful outreach, even one Atheist I know would rather donate by will to them than to family after death.
Even businesses that sustain best focus on service first and money will follow to cover the costs. So that is the real Abundance Mentality.
As for praying to receive God's blessings, yes I have seen many people learn to pray and trust God starting with money or finances. But by the time they grow with God, they learn it's about their spiritual growth with Him and not about the money. God just works with each of us starting where we are.
We shouldn't waste time or words judging each other, but learn the most from our own process and share to uplift others not tear each other down. We do not need to compare and compete with others. Only compete and challenge ourselves to bevthe best we can be.
When the prosperity ministers teach that to encourage people to make the most of what God gives us, invest our talents into growing better in service and relations with others, that is the right message when applied to the realm of business and finance. Investing in serving people, not for works and material conditions but for love and faith, and the rewards pay forward.
