Why are so many people confused with their understanding of the events recorded in the scriptures?

Perhaps they have asked to wrong source to confirm what they have just thought of and then called it spirit inspired

Understanding is given by the Holy Spirit. As to others believing what one receives from the Holy Spirit is another thing. Not because they can dispute it either most of the time it is PRIDE, because they have not had the TRUTH revealed to them or it is not what they want the meaning of the scripture revealed - to mean. hey have not had the TRUTH revealed to them

that is the only way to get the truth, by revelation. Galatians 1:12 "For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ". and this one, 2 Timothy 2:15 "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth". many thank that by studying they gain knowledge and understanding. ERROR study here, is not to gain nothing, but God attention. by studying you show God that you're sincere about his word, and he will reveal it to you. studying is not to gain knowledge, nor understanding, because. Proverbs 3:5 "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths". then one can "rightly divide the word of truth".
