I wrote this to the moderators of CARM (they are not as bad as some other message board moderators so I felt that they might even listen and heed these words) in a thread in the other Topics section, and wanted its words to be preserved here for the sake of a testimony. I want to make it clear that I don't have any beef with the moderators of this message board; because I have had no problems with them whatsoever; and I am very thankful for their kind and godly treatment of me as a minister here.
In Mathew 23:9 Jesus tells us not to call anyone by the name Father...
9“Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven."
How can this be understood if the 5th commandment states:
Honor Your Mother and Your Father
Catholics call priests Father.
If we notice what Jesus was telling the crowd around Him, we might understand why this practice does not oppose what Jesus was saying.
I do believe that Psalm 122:6 was given to true Israelites. But should not Christians be praying for this also? Not only that nations that love them will be blessed and prosper, but I wonder if every Christian in the world got on their knees, at the same time, and prayed for the peace of Jerusalem-a continual daily prayer...would this usher in the "end" faster?
This is a follow-up thread to the thread entitled "The Inner Man."
Other ways of calling the natural man are ...the carnal man, or outward man.
This subject merits a deeper study as the natural man, above all else, gets in the way of spiritual growth in Christ. There is nothing more difficult to overcome than a wrong idea of what God is looking for in us.
Specifically, I want to look at the "converted" natural man...or the religious natural man. This condition, far from being limited to new believers, has become in our time ubiquitous to the point of being that which defines modern Christianity. This ought not to be. We should seek to be renewed in our minds,,,and not just religiously indoctrinated to bring the...
There are many who believe that baptism is the point of salvation, where we come in contact with the blood of Jesus and are forgiven of our sins and when we receive the Holy Spirit. Talking to a church of Christ friend the other day and we discussed baptism.
Acts 2:38: Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
1 Peter 3:21: and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also-not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
Acts 22:16: And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins...

How are sinners made.
We believe that may come about because they sin and are not acceptable to the world. The world takes care of it's own, if you do everything right you are accepted by society. If you mess up then society has in place a system that punishes you. That is the knowledge of good and evil that keeps the world going round.
Point out the fact that is one knowledge not two. So next time you feel like you are living a good Christian life you must realize that is the knowledge of good and evil.
There is two knowledgs that exsists together in this earth. One is the knowledge of good and evil, the other knowledge that exsists is the knowledge of the lord.
His wisdom, His understanding, His life.
I have good news for those that...
Isaiah 26:21 & 27:1 The Lord is coming from His dwelling place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their sins. Their crimes will be revealed, all their wrongdoing exposed to view and on that Day, the Lord, with His cruel sword will punish Satan, that great deceiver.
Isaiah 27:2-5 On that great Day, that the Lord destroys His enemies, He will look to His people; Israel the vine, Judah the fig tree. He has given them every opportunity to obey His commands, but they have not been faithful. If only they were not My Covenant people, says the Lord, I would have trampled them down like weeds. Now, if they come to Me for refuge and make their peace with Me, I will bless them and they will fill the...
Ever wondered what the disciples were wondering about when they asked Jesus, "Where Lord?" in Luke 17:37? @Naomi25 and I had been discussing this question on another thread recently, and I think I finally have the proper answer now.
But let me first quote the passage in full from Luke's gospel:
22 And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it. 23 And they shall say to you, "See here" or, "See there." Go not after them, nor follow them. 24 For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day. 25 But first must he suffer many...
2 Thess 1:8 "In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:"
The implication of the verse is if one does not want to be lost in flaming fire facing God's vengeance then one must obey the gospel of Christ.
What is the gospel of Christ and how does one obey that gospel?
In 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
"Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ...
