If you havent already, you should listen to the song "Proof of Your Love" by for King and Country. It has a powerful message of acts of goodness are meaningless unless you do it with the love of Christ. As christians, we not only want to live for Christ but we want and should live with the love of Christ. We should show mercy, compassion, and above all, love.
All too often we find ourselves looking for gratification and acknowledgement from others when we've done something for someone. We dont do it for the right reasons. If you see a man on the street, homeless, cold, and hungry, do you want to help him because you want to feel good about yourself or because there is a real weight on your heart to help him?
In the Bible we find scripture that says when you bring someone into your home feed them or wash their feet, you are as helping Angels.
To love like Christ is to pray for your enemy to be blessed. Have you prayed for your enemy? Would you bless them? We have so much anger towards so many things, but love the person, hate the sin!
Look at it this way, if you were the bound and broken sitting on the street and Christ walked by, would you want Him to help you? He would! He would because He is Love. As should we be as well. You know the song "This Little Light of Mine", let it shine!! Let the flame grow into a raging fire, burning hot with the love of Christ!!!!
