This might sound like a strange question, but what was it like to be pregnant and give birth? As somebody who wants to have children of my own someday,.. I'm just curious.

Every pregnancy and birth is different April, I had four children and was sick every day for the full nine months, my mum in law was the same and she had six children. Others sail through pregnancy feeling the best they have ever felt. However it’s the reality that you are carrying life as it develops and grows......it’s exciting, but does get tiring at times. I was fortunate to have quick labours....I still remember the way I felt when my first son was born 41 years ago. I wasn’t a Christian back then so I just felt a great sense of awe at the fact that I was a mum ( now looking back I realise it’s a privilege that not all get to experience, so I am grateful )

I never had morning sickness.
I had my daughter when I was fourteen. So I had a young healthy body.
I couldn't sleep on my stomach after the sixth month and my back hurt a lot.
The first time she kicked me in the ribs I jumped.
After that I got used to getting kicked a lot, and pushed around.
I would lay on my back and watch her move from side to side,
like watching waves in the ocean.
Heavy, and tired. and HUNGRY.
The night I went into labor it felt like a bad case of gas.
I had to keep walking the floor, back and forth.
It started around 1am.
I went to the hospital at 6am. By then it was getting a little harder to catch your breath.
The hospital told me to come back around dinner time, it was too early.
I returned to the hospital at 9am. She wasn't waiting until dinner.
They gave me an epidural.. shot in the back to kind of numb the pain.
NOT!
With everything going on in the whirlwind of things it's kind of hard to remember.
I do remember the doctor telling me to breathe because I kept holding my breath.
You feel like you have to push. The doctor says don't.
You don't feel like pushing, the doctor says push.
Your body has a mind of it's own and will do what it does.
I don't remember the delivery.
I just remember there was a mirror and I could watch.
And I saw her waving to the world as she was born.
She was born 1:30 that afternoon.
Good thing I didn't wait till dinner.
I was so weak I couldn't hold her. So my mom was the first to hold her.

Being so young.....
My mom kind of became her mom too.
So My daughter and I are in a way more like sisters. Only I get to make the rules.. lol
Well, that was 42 years ago.
She makes her own rules now..lol

Hope this helps :)
Hugs

Every women has her own unique experience. Some women take pregnancy in their stride with no complications and others don't have it so easy. I have three children and all three pregnancies were different but all pretty uncomfortable and I didn't enjoy them. But when it came to giving birth I was a star; hardly any pain at all with my first, home birth with my husband and mum present for my second and my husband and I did crosswords and laughed a lot in the hospital when I was in labour with my third. And when it came to the actual birthing they were all so fast and easy and popped out so quickly.

I have had three. Two are teenagers now.

Okay first you get to feel sick. Then you feel stretched out. You eventually feel like you've been pregnant FOREVER so you start doing all kinds of workouts. (Actually for me with the first I was walking 7 miles a day while 9 months pregnant to walk to the college and back and wherever else I was going.) so first was few weeks born early.

Then you get to scream in the El Sarape bathroom while people come in worried. "are you okay!?" and so you REALLY freak them out and say "Yeah I'm fine I'm just in labor."

18 hours of natural labor with the second. They had to give me something to relax me because he was not coming out. Hippie midwife made me do it.

Third was 5 hours of natural labor. I spent the last five minutes saying "give me the drugs" and the guy was setting up. But when I said "is it supposed to burn?" the nurse said, "NEVERMIND, GO, GO, she's just going to do it."

Childbirth feels like you are going to the bathroom, but much bigger than you ever planned while your stomach contracts and you get stabbed all of the way around several times.

But then the pain is gone and you have a baby.

Wow,.. @Ziggy, did you really get pregnant at fourteen? Btw,.. maybe @Mayflower will want to respond to this topic as well. :)
I was 13 when I got pregnant. 14 when I had her.
Long story short.
I was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
But God gave me a blessing.
I have never been able to concieve another.
Went to a friend's house for a New Years Eve party.
Friend's mom baught beer for all.
I got drunk, passed out, apparently something happened,
because 4 months later I was diagnosed. pregnant.
I knew something had happened of course, but to this day, I don't know who the father is.
I have my suspicions from who was at the party, but I have no proof.
Anywhoo.. like I say.
God blessed me, and I have no regrets with making the choice I made.
Thank the Lord for good parents.
They were there for me.
And now I'm there for my Dad.
What goes around comes around :)
Hugs

Well both my kids were completely different pregnancies. We were trying for both.

My daughter, I was sick with her the first two trimesters and then I breezed through the third except for Braxton Hicks. I had a full out breakfast with my friend and she kept asking if I was okay, because I kept having pain. And Id tell her it is fine, it is just Braxton Hicks. I was about to be induced on Monday, so I didn't know it was actual labor. I went home and sat on the bathroom floor and called my aunt Cheryl who was alive at the time. I miss her. LOL. And she told me to get to the hospital. I got to the hospital at 1:30, and my daughter came at 2:09! LOL. No epidural or anything. She just decided on her own it was time. It just felt like pooping out a big turd. LOL. And she is. :)

With my son, I wasn't sick at all, but was super sick third trimester. I worked with my son until coronavirus lockdown, so it was a bit harder. It was a blessing when lockdown came, but it was also hard, because I was isolated pregnant with a third shift hubby who sleeps in the daytime. My son was breach, which means his feet was down instead of head. So I was going to be csection also with him on a Monday and he decided no, I'm coming Friday like sister. So he came emergency c section. That feels weird, because then I did have an epidural. But you don't even see the scar now.

So yeh. Don't miss pregnancy. And glad we are done. But children are a real blessing and they were worth every nauseous moment.

Sorry for the late response. I had work today. Pretty soon when John turns one I'll have more hours and won't be on as much in the daytime.

I have had many pregnancies... I will share about the ones I raised after I was age 21.

Since I wrote this birth story for my middle daughter on her 14th birthday (on March 18th of 2009), I'll share it first.
(Idk when I'll get around to sharing more. But I can copy/paste this one for now.)

My baby girl...
Fourteen years ago yesterday morning @approx 5am, I was awaken by my water breaking. Yes ...I was pregnant and 12 days past my EDD. My hubby stayed home from work as we figured with the water breaking, labor would start at any time. We called our midwife (who lives an hour away). She came out and tested and determined it wasn't the water that broke (no trace of amniotic fluid ...so the test said.)

So... being that I was 12 days past the due date, my midwife went back home, but left me with a breast pump and herbs and castor oil ...and I walked and walked and took the herbs and took the castor oil ...breast pump (to stimulate labor = we didn't use it, lol). Anyway... NO labor pains!

I knew it was my water that broke, because I could tell a difference in my tummy and I could feel every little lump and every tiny movement ...even tiny fingers moving against my pelvic bones! I still had no labor pains or contractions (except each time I swallowed the herbs, I had "Braxton Hicks" type pains).

Suppose she wasn't quite ready to face the world and decided to sleep in??

I went to bed that night... still no contractions ...frustrated and discouraged, thinking surely, this baby had just decided to remain in permanent residency in the comforts of mommy's belly! But lo, and behold... about 1am, I started feeling some discomfort... thinks to myself, "Could it be??" I was so frustrated! And I don't know ...maybe a bit of a stubborn streak kicked in. I determined I was NOT going to wake hubby or have him call the midwife.(Pregnant women can be pretty irrational I guess!!) I was going to teach ....someone ...a lesson, lol!!

But who was I kidding?? ...somewhere around 1:30am, I had awaken hubby and told him I thought this was it! He had to go about 3 houses down to a neighbor ...because WE HAD NO PHONE!!

My neighbor friend came to be with us ...and I labored comfortably on my living room couch. Hubby was video taping. I'm not a loud laborer ...suppose this is where high pain tolerance comes in handy! About the time I have to focus a bit more ...hubby up and asks, "You want some chips and dips, Babe??" (No reply! ...still focusing!)

In the background, the radio is playing, "When it's my time, I'm gonna take my time... " ...how ironic! This baby really took her time! We are now 13 days past the due date! But she wasted NO TIME being born - let me tell you! Around 3:10am I told hubby I had to "go" ...I really did! That castor oil does stuff to ya! (sorry!)

But our neighbor friend figured once I got up ....well, she ran and got our 1 yr old off our bed (we sort of forgot she was in our bed!) ...and ran to her house with our 1 yr old to get her daughter to watch her. By the time she made it to her back steps, I had gone from bathroom to my bed ...barely in time to push about 2 times ...hubby caught baby ...delivered at approx 3:20am!

It was March 18, 1995! Just us ...and our little bundle of joy! And, wouldn't ya know it ....she decided to sleep in anyways!! LOL That girl was born sleeping!! Not a care in the world! And that is her still today ...laid back, tender-hearted, SLEEPS A LOT! LOL But we're so very blessed she is here in our lives!!!!! :) OH... the midwife got there ...about 15 mins after she was born! No problems! :) GOD is GOOD!!!!!!!

Wow interesting and she's five years younger than me then. Not that much of a gap. :)

Cool. :)
I have a daughter who was born in 1993 ..another daughter in 1999 ...two sons....one in 1996, and my youngest was born in 2002 (with the Lord now).

I had 4 homebirths....

I had others ....my first was around age 10. (Time is a bit foggy due to the trauma ...ended in forced late term "abortion" ....a son who I named Isaac.) Some were taken (stolen). But anyway ....these 5 I raised, and I have the most amazing children in the world.❤️

So what kind of state is your body in after giving birth?

Daughter, right back up! Just had to take it easy. C-section was tough with my son. Couldn't lift or do anything too heavy. But I could drive, because I have a high pain tolerance/ never took the narcotic they gave for the pain. Kept on the ibuprophen though. Basically they make an incision to get my son out. They give you an epidural and put up a big screen while they are cutting into you. Didn't feel that, but it was harder the sewing back part, because there is pressure. He peed on all of them coming right out and they deserved it. LOL!!!
