Galatians 4:14 KJV
[14] And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.

“And my temptation which was in my flesh you despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.” I’m glad you brought it up again. Never paid attention to the “even as Christ Jesus”.

Lexicon says “…but you received me as an angel of God, as Christ Jesus Himself.” We could suggest this was meant to be messenger rather than “as an angel of God” but still there is “as Christ Jesus Himself” Philemon 1:15-17 For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that thou shouldest receive him for ever; [16] Not now as a servant, but above a servant, a brother beloved,(as Christ Jesus Himself, a brother beloved) specially to me, but how much more unto thee, both in the flesh, and in the Lord? [17] If thou count me therefore a partner, receive him as myself.

Well, to pluck out one’s eyes, would in my opinion display full trust, like the trust we share in Christ?

Thank you. Wow! Galatians 4:14-19 And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus. [15] Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me. [16] Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth? [17] They zealously affect you, but not well; yea, they would exclude you, that ye might affect them. [18] But it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing, and not only when I am present with you. [19] My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,

Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

2 Timothy 4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Obviously Paul loved and looked for Christ appearing yea?

I don’t know. Only mentioned above the quote concerning “be ye perfect as your Father”…unless I’ve misunderstood His perfection being that even while we were yet dead in sin and trespasses He loved us, not because we first loved Him but because He first loved us; His perfection being “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.” Causing it to rain on the just and the unjust.

It was mentioned our granddaughter being without the word (knowledge) but yet closer to His image than most grown ups. Yet, we consider that born dead until coming to the knowledge of Christ? How can that be when children before this world breaks them are closest to His image (Mercy), then they are to the worlds image(destruction)?
Probably the use of the word, perfect, and automatically applying man's definition to that word causes people confusion.

Without going into what God means by "perfect" consider how God judges us. He judges us according to
(1) what we are in our beginning plus
(2) whatever has been added to us during our allotted time and
(3) finally according to what have we done with what we have had available our time.

Jesus clarifies this with these words:

"But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more." Luke 12:48

Simply this verse says, "much is given... much is required".

If we are
(1) born to materially wealthy parents
(2) with excellent physical, mental and emotional health in a country with
(3)lots of real freedom of religion and
(4) an above average brain [high I.Q.]
(5) with a good formal education and
(6) with better than average opportunities...

...more will be required from us by God than from a person...

(1) born to parents in extreme material poverty
(2) with serious physical, mental and emotional disabilities in a country
(3) with little or no real freedom of religion and
(4) a below average brain [low I.Q.]
(5) with little or no formal education
(6) with lower than average opportunities.

A whole lot of variables which no one but God could weigh and judge fairly. However, we can understand that most U.S. citizens and residents serving God would be expected to have better results than most citizens and residents of Haiti [the poorest or one of the poorest nations] .

Oddly Paul received more stripes than all the others.
Jesus clarifies this with these words:

"But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more." Luke 12:48

Lol, Paul in no doubt knew to do the will of the Father and did it, oddly though he claimed he received many. The thing is I believe Paul received it with thanksgiving?
Herein lies a problem when trying to compare one with another. Paul himself warns us not to do that, but it does not seem to be an uncommon thing on this very forum:

"For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise." II Cor 10:12
