My journey has brought me to the answer I was looking for since childhood. Now I just would rather forget it, completely. I have had enough of carrying it around for the last year and a half.

Ok... And that answer is???
And what are you carrying around? We all carry something around

"Kookaburra sits in the ol gum tree
Merry merry king of the bush is he
Laugh, kookaburra laugh
Kookaburra gay your life must be"

We used to sing that in primary school...:)

U should know this song i thought every Aussie did
"Kookaburra sits in the ol gum tree"
"Merry merry king of the bush is he." We learnt that at primary school in NZ.
FYI, in 1854 my ancestors on my father's side emigrated to Sydney from England. My grandfather, who was one of 12, came to NZ as a young clergyman at the beginning of last century, and my father, who also became a clergyman, was born in 1906 at Cambridge, NZ. He was the 4th in what became a family of 10, all of whom survived to adulthood. In NZ Auzzies are often referred to as our cousins across the ditch, which is literally true in my case.

I've been to Australia twice. In 2001 my wife and I toured in a campervan for 3 weeks. Two of her three sisters had emigrated to Oz from NZ in the '70s, and a few years after our tour we went back over to her niece's wedding at a Granchester resort, some way inland from Brisbane.

So are you saying there's a good love and a evil love?
The bible does teach that. Some Christians think that loving the things of this world is a form of evil love.

Can I rely on the promises God makes in the Bible or not?

Gods Word is True...and His Promises reliable.

For: the Believer IN God (as generally applies to the Jews) which is WHOM God "IS WITH".

For: the Believer IN God AND Jesus Christ (as generally applies to people calling themselves Christians) which is WHOM God and Christ Jesus "IS WITH".

For: the Converted Believer IN God AND Jesus Chirst (as specifically applies to anyone Jew or Gentile) which is WHOM God and Christ Jesus "IS WITH, and the Spirit of God IN"...called Forgiven, Saved, & Born Again, IN Christ.
ALSO called; Born Again Christ
ALSO called; Messanic Jew

For: Unsure Believers...(specifically applies to anyone who believes in a power greater than man, but does not assign their belief to any one particulr "entity".
Called; Agonstic

For; Nonbelievers...(specifically applies to anyone Jew or Gentile) WHOM rejects, denies the Lord God Almighty.
Called; Atheist

Scripture discusses the knowledge pertaining to each more indepth.

One thing is certain...God LOVES ALL of His creations, and has Blessings FOR ALL regardless of Beliefs.

Gods greatest desire is that Mankind will Freely and Willingly Choose to Love Him as well.

Gods LIFE is without beginning and NEVER Ending and A never ENDING Life, without want, need, sorrow, disease, stress, pain, hate, death....IS HIS ALL encompassing OFFER to mankind.

Want it...? requires first to HEAR ABOUT HIM....LEARN ABOUT HIM....then believe in Him, His Chirst, with all ones heart. (obviously, if you don't believe, you are not a candidate to receive from someone you don't believe exists)....and a few others things, so He can give you His Seal, that you are Sanctified, Justified to be Redeemed BY ONLY Him, and LIVE FOREVER, in a renewed World with Him and others of the SAME thoughts.

Don't want it...DO NOTHING. And the day will come, you will be completely Separated from God and His People Forever.

Glory to God,

But can I expect/hold God on the conditions of what he does promise? Or is that impossible?

Scripture is Knowledge. The particular things God Promises...MUST be a promise that Applies to you.

There is such a thing called Dividing the Word of Truth.
The Scripture IS the "Written & Published" Word of God.
Gods Word is True.
However NOT EVERY SINGLE WORD of Scripture APPLIES TO EVERY SINGLE PERSON.

Example....if you are not a king (nations leader), a woman, a believer, a Jew....Scriptures pertaining to those things, while TRUE, may not apply to you.

Content is important.
And a person first Learning, will find that things that applies to them "changes" as they continue Learning.

Some people WANT to START, with the ending....meaning they WANT to Understand BEFORE they Believe. THAT will FAIL.

Scripture teaches START as a babe, a little childs thoughts, Listen, pay attention...and the Understanding will come in due time.

Sort of like in anything...math...you learn there are Numbers that represent things, long before you understand how the numbers can be configured to arrive at an answer.

Thought Bubble.
(I tell you this, I personally don't like giving anybody a promise about anything anymore. Well because after breaking enough of them in my lifetime, I don't feel comfortable getting somebody's hopes up, and the repercussions of not fullfilling everything to the agreement I signed)

Well....IF....you were a believer....Anything you say you WILL do is considered a Promise...AND...the man may be most willing to say he will do something (but remember man is NOT all knowing, things come up and disrupt a promise) ...
IF you were a believer, you can say what you WILL DO, coupled with the caveat... God Willing.

Telling the kids, I will take you to the Swim Park next Sat. God Willing....and on Friday a tornado wipes out the Park...whelp kiddos, we will not be going to the Park, yet what I said was not a lie.

Now I am going to quote Numbers in proper context....
Numbers 14 (KJV)
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
²⁶ And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,
²⁷ How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me.
²⁸ Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you:
²⁹ Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured against me,
³⁰ Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.
³¹ But your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have despised.
³² But as for you, your carcases, they shall fall in this wilderness.
³³ And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness.
³⁴ After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.
³⁵ I the LORD have said, I will surely do it unto all this evil congregation, that are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.
³⁶ And the men, which Moses sent to search the land, who returned, and made all the congregation to murmur against him, by bringing up a slander upon the land,
³⁷ Even those men that did bring up the evil report upon the land, died by the plague before the LORD.
³⁸ But Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of the men that went to search the land, lived still.
³⁹ And Moses told these sayings unto all the children of Israel: and the people mourned greatly.
@Heart2Soul Hebrews 11 has many encouragements about the faith of Old Testament saints; this passage also contains warnings...

I have faith in God in all His promises....I do not doubt for I know He wouldn't say something He didn't mean.
Here is a short version of my testimony
And ON TOP OF THAT....when I was 24 I fell on my face and cried out and said I give up....this Christianity thing is too hard...no matter how hard I try I always mess up....
And the next thing that happened was I heard His voice for the 1st time in my life and He said Patty...who you think I am....He said...I am your Father and as you love your daughter so much more do I love you (it's incomprehensible)...
As your daughter grows up she will mess up but you will never stop loving her....(it's what mother's do)...He said as your Father i will never stop loving you or forsake you....
Come to me daily, talk to me, repent of your sins...I am faithful and just to forgive...tell me what's on your heart....I am your Father.

And that freed me from condemnation....never again have I feared losing my salvation.
@Heart2Soul 2 Corinthians 1.20 is another great verse! :)

"For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us."

A great verse! I was thinking of this one last night but never got around to posting it.
@Heart2Soul Shows how the Holy Spirit leads Gods pilgrim people through the Scriptures... :) "...when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come." (Hebrews 16.13)

If I eventually come to believing in your God, would you be satisfied at that point God has me wrapped up in his salvation? (I ask this because many times I have witnessed people who after coming to a belief in God, end up bound by the others involved who can't let go, to let their God)
For me, this isn't the heart of the matter. We were created. Everything just shouts out that fact. So we have a Creator. According to the Bible, our Creator made us for the reason that we might know Him, which is the fulfilling of all that is intended.

Whether or not someone would consider you "saved" or not to me is completely secondary to whether or not you actually come to know your
Creator, and whether you can share in the eternal life His is offering to you.

Much love!

You desired to trap me? You know that those who fall away after tasting the goodness of God will be worse off than the true believer's & non-believer's.

"When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.
Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.
Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation" Matt 12:43-45
