First, I need to tell you, I have two wonderful, now adult kids. About 3 years ago I had an attack on my family like I had never had before. My children and I always have had a great, and very close relationship. Even though the teenage years there was no rebellious time, thay always had a high about of respect and honor for us parents. So much so that even at 18, my son called me from the fair grounds just to ask permission to get a fake tattoo, because he know I was never in favor of tattoo; I was very honored by that. My children and I also have always been, and still are close friends.

So you can imagine the utter shock when at work one day, I get a phone call from my wife, who is bowling, and tells me that my son has been arrested!

That phone call completely knocked me to my knees, weeping. I felt like David when his family was taken from him by the enemy. After weeping till there were know tears left, the Bible says that David encouraged himself in the Lord; knowing David, he probably wrote a Psalm. After I got myself back on my feet, with a fire in my eyes; I said… “NO! Devil, you can not have my son!” And I encouraged myself in the Lord! Then I wrote the following poem…

The Battle is the Lords

When the enemy comes, and the rain begins to pour,
We get on our armor, cause we know this is WAR,
The enemy approaches, they're right at the door,
Suddenly the ground shakes, like a mighty lions ROAR,
The enemy looks around, trembling with fear,
As they see a huge army coming from the rear,
Horses of fire is what the enemy can see,
As the army of God comes down to fight for you and me,

So when the enemy comes near,
There's no need to fear,
Just stand up tall, cause we know the way,
And look at the enemy, and with boldness, say…

So you want to fight,
You better hold on tight,
I'll stand back and show you Gods great light,
He will defend us, using all of His might,
And when it's over, everything shall be made right.

My wife fell into a depression, and I continually encouraged her using scriptures; she ended up writing scripture on the wall with a dry erase marker. Then came court-tag; two years of going back and forth to court, 3 or 4 lawyers, 3 judges later; what we did not know is that over those two years, God was setting us up to show us His power. Because of what my son did, (I will not go into detail, so please don't ask) the minimal sentence was to be 5 years!

I am here to testify that God is good! A couple days before his final sentencing date, the laws of Canada change, removing the minimal sentence law… plus he got a judge that had compassion on him….. He was sentence for only 10 months! And in a place that he could call home as often as he wanted to! God is good!

Now he is home, had a good job, and is getting married next year! What a God we serve!

I hope this testimony encourages someone that might by going through something with there own children.

Oh, ya; my son told me that he read while is jail, that they had put the law back to 5 year minimal sentence! GOD CHANGED THE LAW JUST FOR US!

Just in case anyone thinks God can't or won't do that!

He'll move kingdoms and empires to accomplish one small purpose, if that is His intent.

Much love!

Interesting wrote psalm and well thought out. It hurt a lot during the process of going though all of those things and surely for your son as well learning together and depending on the God we serve is the way to do it. Depending on Him, and sharing and praying with your family to.

One thing I should write: one of the way the devil attacked through is, it "the blame game", "should of, could of," I refused to listen to him. If you are going through something with your family.... DON'T GO THERE! It just makes things worse, and is the reason so many couples separate after a tragedy. We as a family are even closer now.

@Faithbuilders A moving account; and I like the poem's sentiment...
