What is it are we to focus on?

The temporal aspect, or the eternal aspect of life?

What is the most focused on?

Which is healthier choice?
Hi Matthew,
Focusing of Christ at all times, if we are abiding in Him. Our temporal things are just that and will be consumed or destroyed or, well eaten! Lol. "God knows what we have need of before..."
I would say that the temporal is most focused on, sadly. I include myself in this too as, there are things that make me throw my hands up in the air and complain when things go wrong in my house...when I SHOULD be resting in Him, the center of our focus because"...But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

So yeah, simply focus on Him alone because all else will follow. It's tough as we want to do everything our own way. JMHO

Colossians 3:1-6 KJV
1) If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
2) Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
3) For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
4) When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
5) Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
6) For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

Focus on the heavenly things, on the eternal.

God will look to everything in our lives while we look to Him.

Much love!

Hello Nancy,

My sister in Christ, thank you for taking time out of your day to send a reply. Would say you are right when we pay attention to the material or temporal aspects of life, that will at the end not give anything back to the person who desires that over God. It would seem if a person instead of focusing on the earthly aspects yet do learn to understand them, focus on the spiritual aspects of life, always praying, giving thanks to God, seeking to put Him first in that persons life will actually add life to their being in the building faith, and building the inner-spirit person that has been born of God and became a child of God when they had come to to faith.

It is so true when you mention also about complaining. All of us have done it in some point or time. That is when it might be best to direct our attention back to God and what his will is for us to do as walking in faith in the Gospel of Christ, and look at the word and see how we can let go of complaining and give it to the all consuming fire - God and let him burn those problems up as we give them to him in our prayers.

Oh man a great verse by verse on all of those verses that you shared here from Colossians are going to be a time to go through assuredly. Now just realizing this is from Colossians, have started a small study now going for the project of going through it verse by verse and expounding on the text and considering the things of God worshiping God in spirit and in truth!

That is what it is all about in faith, thank you @marks

WORD!!!
@Nancy Reminds me of this verse also: "Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay." (Jeremiah 20.9)
