i appreciate and lovingly observe when colors and life are incorporated into tats.

Love me some Sola Scriptura
PS: @David in NJ

I know you particularly appreciate color in tattoos, although often also simple black can be effective in an understated way, for faith based designs, right? (e.g., below)

In some ways I wish more Christians worked in tattoo parlors, anyway.

This is kinda unrelated to the topic, but I am starting to despise tattoos as a whole because of work... lol. During a physical to determine if you are suitable to donate plasma, donors have to disclose each and every tattoo, piercing, gauging, and intentional scars and brandings. Some of the people that come in are loaded with tattoos and piercings.

One of my coworkers had to document over 83 tattoos and piercings. It took her over an hour just to do that. He was covered all over his body and face. He told her that he still wasn't done yet.

@Naomanos Thanks for the comment! :)

I see what you mean...

At the same time, if for example someone has one tattoo, then documenting it can be a silent opportunity for witness, right? especially if it's thoroughly wholesome...FYI...

I guess, for someone who may not be a Christian, sure. However, and to be honest, most people are just going to do their job, note the tattoo and move on. They aren't going to dwell on it.

They don't have to show each one to us and most won't.

@Naomanos I know what you mean, indeed; and in the example shown it's the verse reference rather than the inspired word itself that is inked in.

But my wife and I talked to a young lady with the whole of the wording of John 3.16 tattooed on her wrist area; it was her favorite Bible verse and mine also. I guess that a lot of Christians might conclude that even some seconds of face time reading a wonderful verse of Scripture - with no comment made by anyone - can be a means of blessing.

(All the young people with Bible verses tattooed with whom I have spoken seem anyhow to have had them done for evangelistic reasons.)

In some ways, I wish more Christians worked in tattoo parlors.

Possibly.

@Naomanos Seems to a choice that is so widely opted for, anyway:

To be honest, until this job, I didn't care whether someone got them or not. They aren't my thing. I have no tattoos and I am not pierced anywhere.

Now I just find it mildly annoying when someone has so many when I am at work. Still don't care either way.

Yes, I can indeed see your perspective if it's about someone who gets the job of noting all a patient's inkwork and perforations.

(Seems like you are some kind of health professional, right?)

Then again, as Heart2Soul says:

it is becoming a norm with health professionals...It is becoming a tool people are using to let others identify their faith. ..I do like the idea of Christian based tattoos

There has certainly been a big increase in tattoos and earrings over the decades. When teen girls and their moms started getting double pairs of ear studs put in, from then onward it seems like moms have often arranged for their sons to have a single pair or single one put in also. As regards tattoos, in the mid-20th century it used to be more the preserve of male sailors and bikers. But now apparently 59% to 70% or more of parlor clients in North America are female. (You can see how so many Christians now opt for faith based ink as a witness opportunity.) I read someplace that a Hollywood director wanted to reproduce a realistic beach scene from the 1950s, but couldn't find enough young women without tattoos. (2c...)

Yes, I work in a plasma donation center.

I'm not sure why you're trying to sell this to me. I don't want to be inked or pierced. It isn't for me. Nor do I care if anyone gets inked or pierced. I don't have a dog in this hunt.

I just thought I would relay something that I found funny for myself.

"He told her he still wasn't done yet looking" - this is getting dicey.

I guess my basic point was, to your initial comment, really, was, It's out there big time, and there to stay (and so many Christians do it...)

I'm not sure where "like" came in at. I went and looked and it says what I wanted it to say.
If you're referring to one of my 'likes', I just guess I have the habit of being rather liberal with my 'like' clicks.......

(Thanks for your contribs. anyway...)

Not at all. I meant looking, not like. I edited the post to reflect the word I meant to say.

In the quote from David, there is a looking after yet.

Yes, in the orig. post referred to, 83 tattoos and piercings (and open to more) is a lot...some ppl go over the top with them....
