One reason, among many, the modern "translators" change the wordings so drastically from each other is to make the Bible explain THEIR beliefs, rather than to adhere to ancient scriptural beliefs.

That is the accusation. I don't by it.

I prefer modern "thought" translations for readability. Literal word translations are too choppy for me to enjoy. Without getting embroiled in doctrinal disputes, an example of the syntax is like this.

Jesus was outside in the rain.
Jesus then came inside.
After Jesus came inside, he went downstairs.
After Jesus went downstairs, he took off his raincoat and goulashes.​

Some modern thought translations combine verses as you can imagine one sentence flowing easier and faster from above. It's not the FROM ancient text that is the problem as much as what it is being translated TO, i.e., the KJV Kings English is not spoken today in 21st century America.

I personally cannot read KJV. Whenever anyone posts KJV, I just copy the verse to read it in my preferred translation. And don't kid yourself, KJV is notoriously a bad translation, deviating from adherence to ancient scriptural beliefs, to explain THEIR trinitarian beliefs.

Out of all the theological ideas and topics that I've come across over the years, the issue of KJV only is one that I have not encountered until recently. I do appreciate the KJV and have a few Bibles in that translation, but to say that it is the only true word of God in English seems to be a far stretch. Also, this opens up a can of worms.

a) Do missionaries that travel to foreign countries where English is not the language require the people to learn old school English in order to have God's true Word?

b) Is English the only language that the Bible must be in?

c) What about all the Bible translations before the 1611 KJV?

Those are just a few questions I have regarding this topic. I'd like to ask the members here, what are you thoughts on the subject?

Well I love the online tools that allow me to view over 30 English translations. I love the KJV. I have used it for 35 years and am the most comfortable in using that. However any serious student of Gods Word should take language courses in koine greek and Hebrew. And avail themselves of teh amazing tools on line to see the Word of God in their original languages.

Translations that are faithful are good and do little to no harm, but we must remember there simply are translations. And words in one language very often do not carry the same impact as in the original languges.

Kittles 10 volume new testament and Keil and delitztch 10 volume OT bible are probably the best English bibles, for they go into the impact of all the differences in the originals than a simple word for word translation does. I use the simple example of the word love. there are six greek words that are translated in the NT as love! each is a different meaning but all mean love. IN the original one would easily see what the person was referring to, but when we read teh english and it is written as "love" people do get confused.

Well the Latin text then - the scriptures weren't written in English for a long time.

The best translators to the copies of the original text eventually died after they created the KJV. Strongs is now the head translator for modernists.

But even if you do like the KJV you must admit that the modern ones are easier to understand and that's what counts. The KJV was written in an encient form of language that nobody uses any longer.

No, the ancient translators were inspired by God to create the first legal English Bible.

The modern translators are inspired by money.

You should use the KJV exclusively.

Your modern translations all say around 50,000 words different from each other to satisfy modern copyright laws.

If that's God's word being butchered like that, then God has been silenced by fake news.

Paul's letters are pretty dense to begin with, and Ricky was really struggling with the archaic 17th-century wording. So, our friend gave Ricky a New International Version, which is designed for modern readability. All of a sudden God's word was open to her, and you should've seen her eyes light up! (And God was praised!)

All of my Bible studies are evangelistic for sinners as the target.

I have used the KJV exclusively with sinners for over 40 years.

Never had a problem with sinners not understanding it.

One thing is for sure, sinners that do not have the Holy Ghost struggle with Paul's spiritual passages.

This is because they were written exclusively to Spirit filled saints.

I grew up using solely the KJV. alot of the memory verses I have memorized are in the KJV. When I was 17 my dad bought me a scofield NKJV. I have used that ever since.. When my mother died I took her KJV as a momento.. I tried reading it a few years ago. I struggled with the wording and the language because it had been so long.

If you grow up and use it.. Its second nature. for a new person who is reading. it is not one I would recommend..

There are certain verses that I'll always think of in King James English such as the 23rd Psalm and John 3:16.

More modern versions may be easier for you and for some others to understand, but certainly not for me.

I have been reading the KJV, along the two other non-English versions, for so long that the other English versions, on the occasions when I tried to read them, were harder for me to understand.

What is good for the goose, is not always necessarily good for the gander. Fortunately, the leading by the Holy Spirit is available to help us understand God's message to us... no matter which Bible we read.

Notice this fact....the only Bible used for quoting from memory is the KJV.

The rest cannot be quoted from memory in a sermon or in witnessing, but only read.

Only the KJV is anointed by God.

The Korean bible didn't work for me either.

If the Korean Bible you try uses the KJV as a plumbline, it will give the right translation to the Korean.

It must be measured in it's meanings by an interpreter to the KJV.
