It saddens and frustrates me that people like Ducky see themselves justified by how they read scripture to condemn my faith as weak.
Please quote where I have condemned you, or stop saying this.
I receive all my blessing from heaven, and if Christ does not want to heal me,
How much plainer can He make it???

Psalm 103:2-3 (ESV)
[sup]2 [/sup]Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, [sup]3 [/sup]who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases,
I will consider my illness blessing as well and do all I can to turn it towards giving glory to God.
Sickness a blessing? Have you not tried to get rid of that 'blessing'?

Ducky darling....can you tell me why God has healed a child with leukemia that was on his deathbed and 2 years old? He did not even know God...I have seen that and the medical report..I know that is the truth because it was my grandson....He was given 3 days to live and in those 3 days he was completely healed ...No cancer.....Test proved it....has nothing to do with his faith in Jesus....

First of all I am very happy that the child lived!!! There can be many reasons for what happened. Perhaps someone truly had faith. Or there could be other reasons. Doctors make mistakes all the time.

I think it is funny how people think they are not judging if they lay out certain facts without drawing conclusions, but everyone knows there is only one conclusion to be drawn - lol

"The vicious dog we keep unchained in our front yard never barks, chases, or attacks anyone, except 'bad' people"

I hope you never get sick Ducky - surely you will believe God abandoned you! And after all your years of black and white, dualistic devotion on Christianityboard!

Charging others with 'judging' is actually judging others. As far as getting sick goes, you cannot understand God's promises since the Bible is pretty much a myth to you. The Bible promises for healing are as good as the promises for forgiveness of sins. Same God who cannot lie. I'm still wondering who your God is Aspen if it isn't the God of the Bible.

I always wonder how people who believe God has to heal them of all ailments if they have 'enough faith' handle the idea of death. Just think about it for a second. Apart from those who die in accidents etc, why do most people die in their old age? People become old, frail and....oh! Unwell! So unwell, in fact, that they die. Makes me wonder...!

It is truly sad to see those who accuse God of being unfaithful to His promises. It's the same as calling God a liar.

Ducky darling...not one person on this thread has even attempted to say God has been unfaithful....What I have said if you read the post is God has healed everyone of us in the area it counts the most...the heart....we can go to God for healing and sometimes He does and sometimes He does not...it is not about how much faith I have...read the Word..and find me where it says...I have to have more faith than a mustard seed to be healed... It is God's call..not mine nor yours..and btw..just for the record..I have not been to a doctor in more than 8 years...for I do not get sick...now for my grandson..the prayers went around the world, or should I say from the USA to Australia the night the doctors told us to make his funeral arrangements..they did not make a mistake...he was in remission for 8 months..God healed him completely because I had the faith and the assurance from God..that he would live....I believe every Word of God..I see miracles and healing almost daily .....it has nothing to do with my faith...it is all God....I trust God and His Word...But His Word does not say He will heal all..if fact Jesus did not heal all....when He went to His hometown..they turned there back on Him..He healed only a few...

I see miracles and healing almost daily .....it has nothing to do with my faith...it is all God....
You obviously didn't read the Scriptures I posted that contradict what you are saying. It is according to our faith what God does for us.

Matthew 9:29 (ESV)
[sup]29 [/sup]Then he touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith be it done to you.”
I trust God and His Word...But His Word does not say He will heal all..if fact Jesus did not heal all....when He went to His hometown..they turned there back on Him..He healed only a few...
Jesus healed all who believed. Those who didn't get healed suffered from unbelief.

Matthew 13:58 (ESV)
[sup]58 [/sup]And he did not do many mighty works there, because of their unbelief.

It is still the same.

True faith is more dynamic than the Bible. The Bible is a starting place. Words are reductionistic - faith / works are sanctification in action. A book can be closed and put up on a shelf or memorized and prooftext - faith and work through the Holy Spirit is love in us and through us, culminating in salvation.

If you stop after simply reading and memorizing the Bible, you are no more saved than a Pharisee, judging the world from his temple. And your rigid mindset put to words, rings distinctly hollow.

My faith is in the God of the Bible and His promises. What is your faith in? Without the Bible we don't have any promises.

I am not a Christian to make a profit - I am a Christian to learn how to love as I was created to do so that I can become fully human, once again, and reflect Christ perfectly.

I kind of get what Ducky is saying... I have this one friend that likes to show how spiritual he is... this one time he was all, "Even if there isn't eternal life I'm still glad I believed" I was like, "That sounds really spiritual but the foundation of what you're saying is that God might be a liar" So yeah... I don't expect anyone to believe what I believe since my beliefs are personal as are everyone's.. but my PERSONAL belief is that...

Even though it might not be my sin that causes something... it's my lack of faith that's hindering me from experiencing total victory...

It's like Peter on the water... it wasn't his fault He couldn't walk on water... walking on water is impossible... but it was his lack of faith that caused him to sink... and if he wouldn't have doubted he would have stayed a float...

But that's me... to each their own... not worth beating each other up over..

And Aspen... isn't to reflect Christ perfectly to have authority over sickness, death and demons also?

Perfect love - a reflection of Christ, does away with all sin. Peter didn't sink because he cognitively forgot that Jesus is God - he sank because his heart and mind gave him over to despair. It reminds me of waking from a deep sleep and momentarily forgetting where you are - momentary despair turns quickly to relief and safety. In Peter's case, his despair turned to a plea to his Master.

As far as 'calling Jesus a liar'.....

I seriously almost left Christianity completely when a zealous youth director decided to tell me that I was calling Jesus a liar simply because I was asking questions. It is a good thing that I listened to the call of the Holy Spirit and found my way back - that man did a lot of damage.

I am no longer afraid to ask questions or work out my understanding of doctrine - I am secure in my relationship with Christ - I answer to Him and He is a merciful and loving God.

Finally, if I sound like I am trying to be over spiritual - I trust that you know me well enough by now to see that I speak from my heart. I am not interested in putting on a show. I may be wrong, but I am sincere.

Oh Ducky, darling I really feel for you..in a way..I see your points...but darling...it is still up to God whether He heals or not...I can't demand healing..we can pray for healing and speak His words on His promises..However, He heals as He desires....He heals non believers ....It has nothing to do with their faith...Mercy sweetie..Just to clarify..I do read the Word, have for about 50 years...it has taken quiet a long time to see the Word with eyes wide open...I do hope you come to that sooner than I did...I did believe the very things you say...but God has shown me the truth....Not by my faith, but by the grace of the Living God are we healed...Have you ever been healed and have medical proof Ducky, or someone you loved healed with written reports?...So speak your truth as you see it and people will listen...but the truth is ...it is all God's will and desires....Ducky do you believe really that by faith that we are healed...if so please go to the nearest hospital and by your very faith...pray for healing of all the children who are dying of cancer, of abuse...Mercy..your faith is all it needs....continue to leave God where ever you have Him and heal those kids...
