PS: @devin553344 I guess this topic is a bit like tattoos, really, as per the discussion on the other thread...
You crack me up, everything is tattoos :p But I don't wear pendants. If they had a God pendant then I might wear one. But I'm not wearing a saint pendant or a cross with Jesus on it or not.

But I don't think graven images of God are OK from the biblical standpoint.

@devin553344 As regards pendants, I guess a lot depends on what's actually on the pendant, as to its significance, right?

(As regards items such as earrings, I guess earring designs are kind of more neutral...)

@Christophany FYI....did you see this thread? Leaving aside images of 'saints', etc., I'm reminded of your past comments about piercings and tattoos, which are really more of a matter of personal style and preference.

This saint is famous for a strange account if you can believe it where he carried a little child across a river. The child turned heavy and he almost drown. When he got across the child revealed himself as the Christ and then the child vanished. It seems like a folk tale of sorts and probably not true as Jesus hasn't returned to the earth at that time.

Hadn’t heard that account...but uh  appears he is more like a folk tale, supposed something looking over travelers. Personally, I favor calling on angels when I travel. :)

Well, Hebrews 1 speaks of angels of 'ministering spirits sent to minister to them that shall be heirs of salvation'....

I wouldn't invoke them, though...

Christ in Christopher,

It is only by the Grace of God that any of us can overcome. Recognizing the Grace of God poured out on our brethen glorifies God!

The prayers of a righteous man are powerful indeed

Christ is risen!
Alleluia!

Most people who wear St Christopher medals do so for superstitious reasons. It's a way of claiming the saint's protection while travelling.
The issue is - if we know Jesus and have God's angels to guard us, why should we need "St Christopher" as well? Especially since dead believers, however devout and holy, don't have any power to influence what happens in this world.

the new covenant is the Family of God!

our father
Our mother
And all our brothers and sister in Christ!

John 11:25
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

ORIGEN
“But not the high priest [Christ] alone prays for those who pray sincerely, but also the angels . . . as also the souls of the saints who have already fallen asleep” (Prayer 11 [A.D. 233]).

All ye heavenly angels and saints pray for us!

Queen of the most holy rosary, pray for us!

I'm not Catholic, but were I to wear a saint's medal, I think I'd get St. Jude's. St. Jude, the patron saint of hopeless cases. :D

Or St. Anthony, the patron of lost things. :p

I looked, but I couldn't find a pendant for St. Simeon, the Holy Fool. Simeon the Holy Fool - Wikipedia

Sheesh, you'd think Amazon would have it.

Your replies will depend on who is replying. A catholic is going to tell you to wear it. Scripture tells us not to make graven images. What would be the purpose in wearing it? Who's being elevated? Christ, or Christopher?

I'm with you, TL. In all we do, we need to glorify GOD, not get sidetracked by images of saints, even though I'm sure a lot of them were good people who loved the Lord also...

Christ is the source of grace and God the source of blessings so all honor veneration, and devotion given to to saints redounds to the glory of Christ and God!

2 Thessalonians 1:10
When he shall come to be glorified inhis saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) inthat day.

what about the ancient Christian practice of making the sign of the cross?
