Of course Acts 2:38 is a legal requirement to obtain remission of sins.
It sure was not illegal.
What is this "legal" talk anyway?
Also, Jesus is now our priest with changed laws per Heb 8.

As long as it sounds like Jesus the best they can say.
It counts to God.
If it sounds like Yokahama, yeshua, YHWH, etc, it is a fabricated name and they are not even trying to say "Iesous".
Especially in English, it is easy to say "Iesous" or Jesus.
We can't get cute and rename the name given to the messiah by the angel per Matt 1.
Stick to the script.

Matthew 1:22-23, "This all happened so that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet would be fulfilled: “Look! The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will name him Emmanuel,” which means “God with us.”
Does "Emmanuel" sound like Iesous or Jesus to you? The quote is from Isaiah, so it's fine to baptize someone in the name "Emmanuel", not just "Jesus"

You said "no".
I asked you if you think the name of the son is son.
You admittedly were not baptized in the name of Jesus for the remission of your sins, so you just say "son" and hope for the best, right?
Who is they?
Did Peter, Paul and the disciples baptize in the name of Emmanuel?
"They" are all the folks that declare God is with us, but the specific name in the same passage that Jesus went by and the disciples baptized in was this name....
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Final absolute command from God!
Matt 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
ALL other baptisms are INVALID!!!
