Hovind is serving out a prison sentence involving shady business practices. Answers In Genesis has a list of subjects Hovind covers which they recommend against.
My best evaluation, since I don't know the guy personally, is that eventually after becoming a Christian, he sought to create business opportunities using Christianity, to make a living. Lot of brethren seek to do that, especially when one becomes educated enough to be able to write or lecture. If you don't put on some kind of 'show', then you must become controversial to foment other's interest, which is what cults are about.
True, not everything taught in public education with Biology is fact. In my college Biology book in the 1980's, it still... had the fake drawing of different animal embryos compared to a human embryo, all of them drawn to look alike to try and support evolution theory. That drawing was proven a hoax about 100 years ago in Europe. I suppose it's still in high school Biology books too.
Many do not realize that theories of evolution did not really begin with Darwin. It's an ancient doctrine of esoterica. A couple of Greek philosophers are usually cited as being the first to introduce primitive ideas of evolution, but it's usually not considered the ideas that influenced them originated from ancient mystics. The old belief was life begins from water organisms (what Biology still teaches), then evolves to plant life, then to animal life, then to a human, and then to a god. If one considers what today's evolution theory is ultimately proposing, there has to be another evolution stage for humans yet to come, and then another, and another, ad infinitum, until what? Becoming god-man. So who do you think that idea is originally from?
Would Communism be involved in agendas to push evolution theory against Bible creation? I don't see why not, for their purpose is to destroy all religion in final.
