OK Jake... when you sin it's not your fault... haha... and that's why you're good enough to be saved... because Christ only died for people that have made themselves righteous... and make excuses for their sins that they didn't mean to do...
Christ's blood only covers sins that don't exist... or ones that were on accident...
I mean there's the thief on the cross... who simply said, "Remember me" and Christ said He would be with Him that day in paradise...
I mean that goes along with Christ saying it's about Him knowing you... but then there's the other gospel that says, "No.. it's not what He did... it's what you do"
I'll stick to the first one I heard... haha
You are twisting Jake's word.
It is not about what you do. We are required to be righteous, to do what is right. On that level, there is atonement, the Publican is humble and thus forgiven.
But Christianity is about us dying and Christ living through us. If you are dead, can you still live your own life? The only way is that Christ lives through you, and Christ does not sin. This, of course, is not the experience of most Christians. But it is what John speaks of in 1 John.
When we fully surrender, Christ lives through us, and it is no longer us who lives, but Christ. When that happens, Christ is doing what Christ does, ministering and revealing.
When we are not walking at this level, we have to do what is right, love our neighbor, be humble, ask forgiveness, and seek to be conformed to Christ.
Might I add this is not my experience either. But I do not discount it because I have not seen it. The Lord can do all things, that includes living through us and LITERALLY making us slaves to his righteousness, as it says in Romans.
