Consider how the writer phrased this new access to God, i.e. "through the curtain, that is his flesh"
We all agree the curtain was removed but what of the Lord's body?
Clearly something was removed to provide this access!

The taking away of the veil pictures the taking away of sin through the flesh of our Lord. The only way it could be!

The "vail" was "rent in half", as Jesus was slain on the Cross.

So, as Jesus's BODY was torn and slain, the veil was torn and taken away.

Ephesians 2:11-15

God through Christ has “broken down the middle wall of partition, having abolished in his flesh the enmity (hostility), even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; that he might create in himself of the twain one new man, so making peace”.

In this “making peace” between two conflicting elements there are two aspects. First, the negative: the dividing wall is broken down by the annulment of the ordinances, and so “in his flesh” the enmity is destroyed.

But secondly, there is a positive aspect: peace is made through a creative act which out of two brings into being one, and that one a “new man”. And this is done not merely by reconciling the two who were in conflict, but essentially by reconciling both to God (Ephesians 2:16). So what was removed in the flesh of Jesus Christ on the cross?

Now with the vail rent and the enmity removed, what does that mean for the Temple of God constructed in the Lord Jesus Christ?

Romans 8:3 describes how God condemned sin in the flesh - by the obedience of Christ God was able to condemn sinful nature and destroy the enmity (hatred) between the carnal mind and the spirit mind as per Galatians 5:17. By Jesus willingly putting his flesh to death on the cross he allowed God the victory over that mind which up until then had dominion over mankind, both in a nature which dies, and a mind that sins.

Of course Jesus had to have that enmity in him for it to be destroyed and removed.

What does it mean for the Tempe of God in Jesus Christ now that the enmity has been removed?

Well there is now no more condemnation as per Romans 8:1 which existed in Christ before it was removed!

It also means the peace achieved in Christ has resulted in a house without enmity. Ephesians 2:19; instead of a conflicting body or instead of divided building (like the temple)....for a house divided against itself cannot stand! but here is a house built, securely resting on the Apostles foundation with Christ as the chief cornerstone, and “fitly framed together”: and its unity is derived from and is essential to its function, for it is a temple for the habitation of God as per Ephesians 2:20 Ephesians 2:21 Ephesians 2:22.

The Christian ought to be thankful Christ shared your nature - the alternative is rather frightening!

If you are to be “fellow-heirs”, “fellow-members of the body” and “fellow partakers of the promise” which is source of all unity, Jesus Christ 2 Corinthians 1:20 , “for this cause” we bow our knees to the Father “from whom every family in the heavens and on earth is named” Ephesians 3:6, Ephesians 3:14 Ephesians 3:15

If enmity was not removed (rent!) in the body of Jesus Christ we are without hope; without the promises and we remain in our sins.
