This post is not about debating with those who don’t believe it. Plenty of forums out there. This is a place for those , typically just in college, that is feeling conflicted.

Oh boy.

"In this corner we have Skovand---- weighing in at 98 pounds with a record of 0 and 0 he is here for his first fight, fighting out of the University Gym and taking on the Champ!"

"And in this corner we have the Champeen--- Orthodoxy! Weighing in at 6000 years of human history, fighting out of the Dallas Theological Seminary-taking on all comers!"

This fight is scheduled for 15 Rounds, winner to be declared by knock out, or by adjudication by our judges on the ten-point system.

But you want to step in the ring and say--- "No body is allowed to hit me."

How about before you do so, you define it. What do you mean by "evolution?" Do you mean to include the origin of life as having come from nothing and then having 'evolved' into everything we see now? Do you mean tadpoles coming from the swamp and growing feet and apes becoming men?

What do you mean?

That’s such a dumb post. I’m not going to read past the few sentences I read. If you want to understand why I made the post, I already answered it several times. Read through like an adult.

You disqualify yourself from any discussion.

You hop up on a little soapbox and make claims that require agreement with terms you neglect to define. It's so different from the only other thread I've read that you started which began like this---

o before engaging in this conversation I ask that you use wisdom. To use wisdom means to read the whole post and then respond by either agreeing, by asking clarifying questions, by disagreeing by countering my points or either by further elaborating on the story. Trigger warning for the sensitive here. This disagrees with biblical inerrancy. This post will be made in three sections. The scriptures, the errors in the scriptures and lastly a healthier understanding of what it could mean.

Are you bipolar? On meds?

This topic is so near to your heart that it demands concessions from the start-- not up to scrutiny I guess. Have a nice day.

It’s simple. I made a post for those who are interested in evolution. I did not make a post to debate evolution. I mentioned if you want to debate evolution, there are other threads for it. It’s not complex. It’s not a soap box. So grow up. I just don’t want to waste time talking to those with sixth grade science education. That simple. I’m in tons of debates. I made a thread that was supposed to not be a debate. Everyone who read it, then decided to ignore the purpose are just being jerks and don’t care or either they don’t have food reading comprehension. Not every post needs to be a debate. It can be a thread just for those who want to discuss it and learn more about it. That’s simple. You’re mad that I don’t care to debate you. I made a post to fellowship with others. That simple. It’s not my fault y’all can’t read it don’t care about the purpose of the post.
So if y’all want to debate it on it, then i definitely have a right to ignore it. The discussion on if evolution is real or not is over. It’s not a issue of debate within the scientific community. It’s already accepted. It’s like if I made a post about geography and flat earthers wanted to debate. No one really cares. So much evidence is already out there. This thread is for those who are already there and want to get some more info. Plain and simple.

since I already know you’re a waste of my
Time I’m just going to ignore you along with the dozen others who prove with their actions that’s what they deserve.

Well I guess you are a young earth believer but I'm not, the Bible isn't a time book but earth isn't just a couple thousand years old.

It’s amusing to repeatedly see this argument.

If I disagree with a young earth creationist interpretation of the Bible, and I disagree with their pseudoscience then that means I disagree with God or reject the Bible.

Again no.
It simply means i disagree with the young earth creationists integrations of the Bible and I don’t think their pseudoscientific thoughts carry any academic or intelligent weight.

so I still accept the Bible. I still accept genesis
1-2 as truth. I just don’t think it’s literal. There is a difference between truth and literal facts. A parable can be true, but not literally factual. Revelation is true. The book of revelation is true. But it’s not meant to be interpreted literally. Neither is genesis 1-11.
The delusional ones are those that ignore sound biblical hermeneutics because they reject the cultural identity of the text along with contextual analysis of its genre and they reject essentially all science. They reject geology. They reject chemistry. They reject paleontology. They reject botany. They reject biology. They reject astrophysics and things like the speed of light and the size of stars and so on. They disagree with genetics. They overlap disagree with the overwhelm in the majority of scientists and biblical scholars. They also can’t provide a single counter argument. They rely on gaps and even half the gaps have been closed to everyone but the most backward thinkers.
It's not a contest.

God is so much greater than that.

I submit to you that the one theory or the other, whether young or old earth--that neither is correct but equally true...and that both are equally lower than the whole truth. Moreover, that the truth is that it is all-of-the-above. By God--each person's simplest children's nursery rhyme theory unto the most advanced scientific and wildest imagined theory is true.

The problem is--you unwittingly asked for a debate. You posted a tread under the name "Christian", but speak against God's word.

As for your intentions of limiting your thread to your own terms--you don't get to do that. We are One body...and if you speak against the body, we are not beyond the limits of the One. If so, and if you insist, that is called divorce, or separation. God is not mocked.

Now...if you had asked the question differently, you might not have set off the rest of the body. But you didn't.

Navigating the perceived conflict between faith and evolution

our great great grandkids may not even know what YECism is outside of it being something people use to believe just like me find the funny beliefs of those thousands of years ago.

add it to the list of ‘science’ that cannot be questioned that college profs spoon feed children. Man-made global warming, the benefit of electric cars (charged by coal-fired power plants) the virtues of lithium mining and the horrors of nuclear power, the benefits of communism, COVID and vaccines, gender assignment and the need to tippy-toe around their feelings.

Nuclear plant technology is getting better and safer, here in Virginia 29% of energy is from Nuclear plants for about 40 years now alot though still comes from natural gas 61% but only 4% is from coal fired plants.

Okay...so I started another thread where the other "experts" are also welcome, and where there is no fear of debate: "What does God say about EVOLUTION?"

To really get a good grip on evolution without actually going to college and working in one of the fields associated with it, you have to go looking for facts, without preconceived notions.

You can start with carbon dating, it has been around for a while and this field actually tests it own parameters and of course this happens all the time. They take a specimen that they know the date down to the day and test it. This is how they know the accuracy, plus or minus how many years. Egyptian mummies make good test subjects and they can go back to 4500 BC. When testing for things that are millions of years old you start looking at triangulating the facts. Test using other carbon dating equipment. Testing other specimens that are at the same sedimentary level in the dirt or rock. Depending on the rocks, if they contain lead there is something that they call “clocks in rocks” lead isochrons are also a valuable radioactive dating process and one of the most accurate dating process is if the rock or sediment contains uranium-lead isotopes. Comparing the results of these tests can pin point the date more accurately.

Then you flip the coin….what can cause inaccuracies in carbon dating? It is good to know that to.

As far as billions of years, some of it is as simple as common sense. If you are sitting on the ground….you are sitting on a grave. The grave of millions of animals and plants. The planet started out as a rock. The dirt that carpeted it, are the remains of animals and plants that lived and died over billions of years.

As far as the evolution of Man, we not only have a large fossil record of that evolution, but now we are discovering variances that did not follow the common path. I am not saying that we have a fossil record that goes year by year and there are gaps….but the term missing link is a misnomer. By comparing the DNA in fossils before and after the gaps we can see the similarities, so it just means that we have not found that specimen yet. Over the last few decades those gaps are being filled in.

Then there is DNA comparisons between specimens on the evolutionary chart and comparisons between them and us.

And it is still all about God and some things only God knows. There are a lot of questions in the science of evolution and some things show intelligent design or influence. Proving evolution is one thing, understanding the evolution of Man is another. About 2.8 million years ago God choose the “great ape” for advancement. We can track this, but no one has the explanation for what happened next. If you look at the evolution of animals it can take millions of years for each stage of advancement to occur. But in humans after the great ape, humans not only evolved a hundred times faster than any of the animals, they got smart quick and after homo erectus the evolution of Man sprang forward like a jet. Maybe a thousand times faster than animals, no one has an explanation for this. It takes animals so long that right now it would seem they are standing still.

And there was a global disaster that occurred about 73,000 years ago. The largest super volcano on record erupted at Toba Caldera, Sumatra that darkened the skies for about ten years and more or less poisoned the planet, a lot of the water sources were poisoned and the darkened skies caused an extend volcanic winter. Some say that the human population on the planet was reduced to a few thousand, most agree that it killed a lot of humans. This should have at least slowed the evolution of Man, but instead it doubled the rate of advancement of Man. No feasible explanation for that.

By far the most abundant volcanic substance from eruptions is gas and water that is toxic. Also there is a significant amounts of carbonic acid, carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide and hydrogen halides and radioactive radon can also can be emitted from volcanoes. Depending on their concentrations, these gases are all potentially hazardous to people, animals, agriculture, and property. In the case of super volcanoes tons of ash that obscure the sun worldwide for an extended time.

Stem cell programming have alot to do with things turning off and on as well. A caterpillar to butterfly is a good example of stem cells turning off and on at a predetermined interval.
Yes, and growth is typically regulated by hormones which alter the effect of repressors in active DNA. Timing of interactions is critical and that is another layer of complexity.

"For You created my innermost parts;
You wove me in my mother’s womb.
I will give thanks to You, because I am awesomely and wonderfully made;
Wonderful are Your works,
And my soul knows it very well.
My frame was not hidden from You
When I was made in secret,
And skillfully formed in the depths of the earth; Your eyes have seen my formless substance;
And in Your book were written
All the days that were ordained for me,
When as yet there was not one of them."
Psalm 139:13-16

I suppose this is one the great evolutioner didn't inspire.

Well the Tohu wabohu ( the cosmic watery darkness ) is symbolic of chaos. Before the first day of creation the universe according to the Bible and ancient Jewish people was a place of dark deep water and darkness. When darkness was separated it’s not a reference to the sun. The darkness there is not symbolic of the night. That’s sun, moon and stars.

it’s why in revelation it says there will be no sun.

Revelation 21:23
New American Standard Bible

23 And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God has illuminated it, and its lamp is the Lamb.

it’s also why it says there will be no sea.

so when it says the darkness was separated creating the light is about gods order overcoming chaos.

same as when Yahweh allowed darkness to swallow everywhere but Goshen.

Exodus 10:21
New American Standard Bible
Darkness over the Land

21 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Reach out with your hand toward the sky, so that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even a darkness which may be felt.”

it was a darkness they could even feel. It was the cosmic chaos that existed before Yahweh conquered it. It’s the abyss the demons fear.
Read it again. The first verse precedes the darkness and the waters. You're reading meaning into scripture that isn't there.

"1In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2And the earth was a formless and desolate emptiness, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters." Genesis 1:1-2

The deep was created. Nothing existed in creation until creation existed, not even time.

All you have to do is look at the work by scholars .

1. Genesis 1:1 is a introduction statement.

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

It’s mentioned God is created the heaven and the earth. The earth is translated from the word “ erets “ which means the lands. Ancient Jewish people had no concept of the “ earth “ like we do. We think of earth as a globe. They thought of it as a disc.

so it’s saying El creates the heavens ( skies ) and earth ( lands ).

It then states the condition of the earth. Before it was the lands, before it became the lands, before it was created days later, it was not yet created and this uncreated state was darkness and water. It was the void and the chaos. God did not create the void and the darkness. The void and the darkness was pre creation. This is simply what Jewish people believed.

god then begin to create.

Day 1: God separated the darkness. He conquered it. He ripped it in half and ordered it into light and darkness. This light and darkness was not from the sun and moon or stars.

Day 2: God created the firmament. The dome. It’s as of a metal sheet was beaten flat. That’s what it means in Hebrew.

Day 3: God gathers up the waters below the heavens, which was the waters under the dome and created land.

Esch day it breaks down what was created and on none of these days was the formless void (deep dark cosmic waters ) or darkness created.

just google and read for a few weeks the ancient Jewish and Mesopotamian beliefs of the cosmos. Biblical cosmology for example.

Certainly not when people rape.
Rape is unrighteousness. Murder is unrighteousness. One doesn't justify the other.
However, if you believe in a sovereign God, then absolutely everything that happens is ultimately in His control. He has always used unrighteous people, evil men, to accomplish His purposes. "There is no one good but One, that is God."

We measure behavior and label it according to what we imagine we would do or wouldn't do in any given circumstance. Yet, men that we reckon to be "good" frequently do evil things, when pressured by situations beyond their control.
This is why the Christian saying was coined, "There, but by the grace of God, go I."
Some people run after sin, others "fall" into it, but all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, our Lord Jesus Christ.
