Why blame ppl for committing sin when it's Satan who's making them do it? Satan's very name means tempter, and because he's powerful and humans weak, the latter find it hard to resist him. Not making excuses, but I honestly can't believe that a person could commit a sadistic murder of his own free will.

While Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy and he is called the father of lies, he is not the nly wicked thing in the universe, Man is wicked all on his very own. But for the fall of man, man would be strong and everything God created him to be.

Believe it. Man is incredibly wicked---immeasurably! God says so...

Jeremiah 17:9 (NLT)

[sup]9[/sup] “The human heart is the most deceitful of all things,
and desperately wicked.
Who really knows how bad it is?

Adam and eve couldnt resist Satan even in paradise, which was but a perfect place filled with happiness. Is it possible for us humans living in a fallen world to resist satan?

Sure they could resist Satan, but they chose not to. God has given mankind an incredible power of will. In Christ we are instructed to resist Satan, but how do we do that? Remember to humble yourself, then submit to God, first.

James 4:6-7 (NLT)

[sup]6[/sup] But he gives us even more grace to stand against such evil desires. As the Scriptures say,
“God opposes the proud
but favors the humble.”
[sup]7[/sup] So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Satan is nothing but a cautionary tale. Personal sin is our responsibility

Satan is not all powerful, he cannot make people do anything they don't want to do unless they are demon possessed...then that is another story...but even that can be fixed by casting them out. I have seen demon-possession up close and personal...it's pretty frightening.

Every sin I've committed was of my own free will. In fact, even as a Christian, I am only free to choose sin. When I do do something righteous it is solely by the power of the Holy Spirit and the Blood of Christ.

Amen! Joyce Meyer says something like, "You don't have to entertain every thought that comes into your mind."

We are to bring our own thoughts and those that are implanted by the enemy under subjection to Christ.

:( It's not surprising to me that her name would come up in this thread.

No offense, I just want the truth to be known..

I know a lot of people that really love Joyce Meyers - my mom is one of them. Personally, I think her points are pretty obvious, but I can't really criticize her if she is helping people walk with God.

Joyce has got it wrong on two essential doctrines, the atonement and sinless perfection.

In a nutshell, Joyce claims Jesus paid the price for our sin in hell. That is wrong, and damnably wrong. Jesus atoned for our sin on the cross, period... not in hell.

Secondly, Joyce claims she is no longer a sinner after salvation (she no longer commits any sin). That flies in the face of even Paul himself when he lamented over the sin in his own life, after salvation. That claim, also, is error enough to exclude her from the family of God.
