If I were a cynical man, I would think Paul was trying to differentiate his Gentile followers of Jesus from our Jewish cousins whose men traditionally wear a head covering (e.g. a yarmulke) while praying.

If I honor God with praise and thanksgiving while wearing a Stetson, does it matter if my head is dishonored?

Jesus might've said, "It's not the hat that dishonors a man's head. It's the evil thoughts that run through that head: Sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. These are the things that dishonor a man's head."

Maybe it's a matter of respect??? I know Catholic priests, etc., are big on wearing head coverings.

Conversely, Paul said that women should wear head coverings during church services.

I don't know if it matters to God. How could I know the answer to that question?
"Judge for yourself" (1 Corinthians 11:13a). If you think it matters, remove your hat. If you think it doesn't matter, don't worry about it. Just don't be contentious about it (1 Corinthians 11:16). We (I include myself here) can use Romans 14 as a guideline, especially as it applies to relating to brothers and sisters in Christ who have different practices.

Anyway, I told you what I think and why. I don't want to be contentious about it either.

It would not matter if there were no pride or other form of selfishness in the person who chose to wear such a cover. Jesus was never selfish and he never sinned. Can any of us say the same thing?

The crown I see on Jesus' head during his 3½ years while walking as a man in Israel/Palestine on planet Earth was made of thorns.

If we know that the hat or cover or Stetson would be offensive to our brother, would we or should we continue to wear it?

Ro 14:12So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
Ro 14:13Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.
Ro 14:14I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.

yes men should pray without a covering on their head! It is a command for teh church, both Jew and Gentile!
a) We are not under law in the New Covenant.
b) We do not live in first century Corinth. They had completely different customs than we have today.

Paul's point is to not dress in a way that will offend others.

It seems this ordinance is for modisty.

But perhaps there is a deeper spiritual meaning, related to Christ and the Church, and the custom of wearing wedding vales.

4 Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head,

Man is the image and glory of God.
Man Praying/ Speaking to God “should stand before God in Gods image...”
No head covering, as God has No head covering.
Men wear hats, out doors, in houses, in restaurants, in vehicles....yet when they enter the House of God, they remove their hat, and “stand before God in Gods image”.

1 Cor 11:
[7] For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.

Glory to God,

I think we're supposed to believe in and follow the word of God, although I know some of Christian brothers and sisters don't believe in that, apparently.
Christians are under grace, not under the law. If your dress offends and neighbor, then you're dressed inappropriately.
